Are you some kind of boxing hipster? Langford Jeffries Wills and Dempsey yet no Lewis, Holyfield, Frazier or Tyson? Hell I'd rather see Kenny Norton, Riddick Bowe and in there instead of Langford and Wills :-(

Well justified, but your kidding yourself if you think the Holmes that Tyson fought was any better than a B fighter.

Sorry I should have specified, I do rate that Larry as "Grade B"... my point was that none of those guys beat anyone "Grade A", I thought that was clear? I'd actually say the Willard who Dempsey beat was "Grade C", basically he was no better than someone like Ustinov or Wach at that point in his career.

    Thanks. :good

Aaah my mistake bud, took your implications completely wrong. Whostheres list is possibly the worst I have ever seen, alongside Nonito smoak. How anyone can even try and argue that the likes of Jeffries, Langford and Wills above people like Lewis, Tyson, Frazier etc is beyond me.

This may be the first time at ESB that someone considers changing his mind in what could be described as a gentleman's exchange of words.

    :rofl

    This.

Funny thing with Smoak however, is that on his P4P list he says people don't appreciate modern fighters and rates Pac/May inside the top 20, predicting Floyd finishes a Top 10 ATG. :huh

I reckon that will go down quite well on that website, actually. Except you've no Gene Tunney, those boys are high on Gene.

Yeah, only one Gene would've nudged out would be Ez tbh - but then I have Ez down as besting Gene head to head - and then I have Frazier beating Gene as well as Jersey Joe - didn't have time to read all the comments on there so far as am at work but what the general low down on top five say of mine??

Well there's no real debate in that thread - in fact, any debate has been scrubbed. The idea is just to vote now then talk about the divisional ranking when it is decided, I think.

I can't say how well your top 5 will go down but I can say that Louis and Ali aren't regarded as locks for #2 and #1 in the same way they are (Correctly IMO) on here.

So Dempsey at #1 would be agreed upon/seen as reasonable by many of the writers on the sight, and by the editor and by the organiser of this poll. I expect him to do better than the 8th (I think) he scored in the ESB poll. But we'll see.

Ah, he won't make #1 i'm afraid, he's still missing from many lists, but #5 or so might not be out of his reach. He's had a couple of #1's. Problematically though, you get ten points for 1st, 9 points for second etc. under the system, theer's no big bump for being #1.
