I have read something along the lines of a thread topic like this in the past but ESPN is the epitome to which sports are covered and legends are born. So why is that they simply refuse to highlight or even talk about any boxing articles that should have mainstream appeal on their #1 show sportscenter? The Taylor/Pavlik fight in my mind was a major turning point in the middlweight division but there was no coverage at all. A big one that sticks out in my mind was May 7, 2007 when Diego passed, RIP, they had no coverage, no respect at all for the sport or for the athletes that make up the sport. Its appalling, and in my eyes the main reason that boxing lags behind other sports. No televised coverage. :-( Does anyone else show displeasure of how boxing gets treated? :fire
I know. Its terrible in England. The most you get in a paper is a small article after a big fight like the Hatton-Mayweather. Apart from that, nothing
Hatton, Calzaghe and Kahn create decent headlines in England. Haye to a lesser extent. It was wall to wall coverage for Hatton - Mayweather. Other than that none of our other boxers really get a mention. The average man on the streets wouldn't be able to tell you who Junior Witter or Carl Froch is.
The mainstream news media looks down on boxing. They are owned by extremely rich Republicans who's big sport it golf. They are the ruling elite who own this Plutocracy call America. Golf was voted as the most boring spot, but it does not matter to them.
