I love boxing, but we cant complain that boxing is losing popularity because of corruption, and do nothing about it. The fans do have power, we just need to start using it. Someone had a great idea about making a website that we can expose the crooked judges and hold them accountable. Boxing hasnt been losing popularity because of the fighters or the fights, its soley because of politics and corruption. Even though we outnumber them by millions, the fans and fighters are being taken advantage of by dirty officials and promoters, and until we use our advantage of numbers and social media to stop them, we cant complain that outside ourselves and die hard boxing fans, most people could give a f@ck about boxing. They gave up on it years ago. Lets not do the same.
Im all for exposing those corrupt *******s, either they are incapable or corrupt, I havent seen the salido vs juanma fight yet but seen plenty of fights with really bad cards.
Made this thread years ago, to little feedback. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191289
Bad decisions aren't the only problem, another just as big is the fights not getting made. And need I even mention the fact we have multiple "champions" in every division. The only (theoretical) way out of this mess I can see would be to organize professional boxing similarly to other sports, with ONE ruling body that controls what fights are made and who the champions are. But that's not happening, because the current mess will make more money as long as fans are content with it.
yeah, robberys, big fights not happening, ****ing promoters taking the big part of the money from boxers and finaly all that belts when the normal fan just wanna kow at the end, who is the #1 in the world, the real world champion. /
the real problem is the sanctioning bodies. Unify boxing under 1 top league and the sport will be healthy and popular.
A lot of people I know gave up on it. When the two biggest guys in the sport who happen to be in the same division don't want to fight each other there's no bigger blot than that.
Clarity in ranked competition and the right promotion would both benefit far greater than any other change you could make. Corruption certainly doesn't help, but I don't think anyone watching boxing would not tune in a second time if they enjoyed the first time solely because of a robbery. What goes on in the ring leaves more of an impression than what officials at ringside dictate. Believe me, I'm all for cleaning up the sport in that respect, but I don't think potentially consistent fans simply choose not to watch due to fears of an unjust result at the end.
