    1. What does "training gloves" mean to you?
A - Ultimately, a high quality boxing glove but without laces so it is quick to put on and off.

    2. When you first receive boxing gloves, what are some things that you immediately notice?
    A - Shape and quality.

    3. When you first put on some gloves, what are some things that you immediately notice?
    A - Fit and feel.

    4. What features did you like best from the training gloves you have owned previously?
A - Quality, shape, fit and feel.

    5. What features did you think could improve on training gloves you have owned previously?
A - It astounds me how **** some gloves are. They look terrible, feel horrible, they are clumpy etc Reebok's old gloves, BBE etc are look like pillows with no real shape.

    6. What features do you think are needed but for some reason no-one seems to provide?
Simplicity - Good old one colour gloves, with a good shape, no gasrish designs etc

    7. In terms of materials, do you prefer, and why:
    A -
    exterior: cowhide or goat leather?

interior: anti-bacterial or not? do you feel anti-bacterial linings reduce smell?
A - Not sure, but if it does then do it.

    stitching: double

padding: any company you like that does this best in your perspective? why?
    A - Everlast and Reyes

padding: if on the scale of padding cleto reyes was 0 and winning was 10, what would you like?
A - 0. Ideally, use a foam inside like Winning but make them the same size as Reyes. I think foam allows for longer life.

padding: What material padding do u prefer most? Polyeurathane? PVC? other?
    A - Not sure

    8. In terms of functionality, do you prefer, and why?
    a) hook and loop vs lace up
A - Normal velcro strap is best for training.
    b) thumbs attached at top to finger area or not?
A - thumb needs to be attached
    c) how far should your palm be able to open? (10 is completely open, 0 is fist form)
A - about a 7, you need to be able to parry
    d) would you prefer more padding around the wrist or on your knuckles?
    A - evenly proportioned glove

    9. In terms of availability / handling:
    a) what are you're biggest pet peeves?
A - shipping charges and lack of shops stocking them
    b) what shipping method have you found to be most reliable?
A - you want it quick and cheap
    c) what shipping method have you found to be most damage-free?
A - never had an issue with damage
    d) when you want to order something, how long are you willing to wait (1wk, 2wk, 1mo)
    A - a week MAX

    10. In general what are the things that makes you fall in love with a glove and what are things that really put you off?
Quality, appearance, shape and feel. Everlast, Reyes and Winning look great but at silly prices sometimes. When they are not at silly prices, you will often see them i.e. Everlast are used much more because they arent £200 for a pair of gloves.

As girl quoted me saying "In boxing you should want to feel border line naked for comfort and technique". I am sick and tired of big, garish equipment be it boots, shorts or gloves. When you punch you want to feel like your fist is hitting the guy. A glove should be feel like a slightly padded extension of your fist and there to offer protection. Everlast and Reyes understand this best. It would be great if the look and quality of Winning gloves could be shrunk to the same size as Everlast and Reyes gloves.

    11. any other comments?
A - Please make a good glove. Good quality, simple appearance, nice aerodynamic shape, good feel and not for a silly price.

I personally don't really care how the logo looks, but don't just spray paint it onto the glove, do it properly

Man, this is actually really tough to answer...

    1. What does "training gloves" mean to you?
A - A glove that can be put on and removed quickly, is very durable and offers good protection.

    2. When you first receive boxing gloves, what are some things that you immediately notice?
A - Quality, or lack of. Stiffness of the glove.

    3. When you first put on some gloves, what are some things that you immediately notice?
A - Size, both inside and outside. Stiffness of the glove. How effective the strap is.

    4. What features did you like best from the training gloves you have owned previously?
A - Don't need too much wearing in - Everlast seem to be good for this. I recently had to wear in one of my fighters new pair of gloves (Lonsdale) for him because they were hurting his thumb.

    5. What features did you think could improve on training gloves you have owned previously?
A - See 4. Also the length of the glove - I cannot stand it when the strap comes half way down your forearm as is typical with many gloves on smaller fighters.

    6. What features do you think are needed but for some reason no-one seems to provide?
A - I would like to see a sweat removing material, like a sweat band to be fitted to the strap located on the back of the wrist. During a hard session on the bag, sweat can sometimes be an issue and it would be nice to be able to wipe it away from your brow. In saying that, I usually put a sweat band over the cuff of my right glove to enable me to do this anyway, so not that much of a biggie really.

    7. In terms of materials, do you prefer, and why:
A - Cow hide - tried and tested.

Interior: anti-bacterial or not? do you feel anti-bacterial linings reduce smell?
A - Anti bacterial would be beneficial for clubs who supply communal gloves.

    stitching: double without question.

padding: any company you like that does this best in your perspective? why?
A - Ringside imf tech padding is about perfect imo.

padding: if on the scale of padding cleto reyes was 0 and winning was 10, what would you like?
    A - 6/7

padding: What material padding do u prefer most? Polyeurathane? PVC? other?
A - Not too fussed really

    8. In terms of functionality, do you prefer, and why?
    a) hook and loop vs lace up
    A - Velcro strap
    b) thumbs attached at top to finger area or not?
    A - Definately attached
    c) how far should your palm be able to open? (10 is completely open, 0 is fist form)
    A - 6
    d) would you prefer more padding around the wrist or on your knuckles?
    A - knuckles > back of fist > wrist

    9. In terms of availability / handling:
    a) what are you're biggest pet peeves?
A - Lack of choice in shops - few people try before they buy, or they try someone else's battered pair at the gym and this sometimes gives a false impression of the glove. Lack of availability of good gloves/expertise in sports shops - how many times do you see newbies with pvc addidas or reebok gloves which have been bought from a high street store where no pertinent advice has been given.
    b) what shipping method have you found to be most reliable?
A - Go the the shop and collect them preferably. Failing this, all shipping appears to be the same imo.
    c) what shipping method have you found to be most damage-free?
A - Never had this problem.
    d) when you want to order something, how long are you willing to wait (1wk, 2wk, 1mo)
    A - 3-5 days max

    10. In general what are the things that makes you fall in love with a glove and what are things that really put you off?
A - I like a glove to be consistent over a period of time. Many gloves feel too stiff when you buy them, then they start to feel like the glove you wanted after wearing in, and not long after that they fall to bits - you have to go through what is effectively three stages - new, about right, and shagged every rime you feel a need to be comfortable in a glove, and that period usually passes by too quickly. A glove should feel useable almost immediately, and remain in this condition until you have had your moneys worth, at which time you should replace them with a glove which feels useable almost immediately, therefore maximizing your time where you are comfortable with the glove. I also like a plain glove, red, blue or black... hate fancy colours and patterns.

    11. any other comments?
A - Find a high street dealer network who will price competitively with online stores, and make sure that the staff in the dealer network are trained to offer good advice i.e. people should be shown how to wrap their hands, and subsequently do so before trying a glove on. Let's face it, to get the best out of a pair of trainers, you should have them fitted by someone who knows their stuff - same should apply with gloves.

Also sizing - there is to much variation without guidance. For example, I have two pairs of Everlast 14oz training gloves (amongst others) - one pair is about the right size for me (I have fairly small hands) - the other pair are like a damn king size bed, both externally and internally - no mention of this size differential was made when I bought them (online). Therefore, the sizes should not only go by weight, but also by compartment/outer size. Some of my smaller fighters want to wear 14oz gloves, which is fair enough, but we find that the compartment is far too big, and the strap is located nearer to their elbows than their wrists. For me, i'd like to see sizes like 12oz s/m/l, 14oz s/m/l, 16oz, s,m,l etc.

It means separate pairs for the bag and sparring. And the training glove should be able to handle either task. With laces. My problem with bag gloves is that they always come with velcro. So a good training glove should protect well for the bag.

How the hand fits in there. Along with the way it is constructed for protection.

    See the previous answer.

I currently have Grant. Along with good protection for my hands, I like the fact that it feels lighter than other brands despite having the same weight. I also like how I feel that I have better control over my punches. I don't have a feel of bulky gloves.

    Leather quality.

Forget anything synthetic. It doesn't have the same quality. Cowhide leather seems to be the norm for durability.

Anti-bacterial sounds like big common sense.

Take a look at Rival sparring gloves. The padding is surprisingly good.

Padding around the knuckles, and laceup to protect the wrists tightly.

I always hate when companies ship with UPS or FedEx. They only deliver in working hours, are overpriced AND make you pay crazy import fees when you live elsewhere than the US. Please, standard postal service should be an option for people like me!

Try to have a sharp taste for color to make your product stand out.

Quality is most important if it is cheap crap it wont matter how it looks. But a quality product that looks sharp, now that's a hit.:good

Winning already produces the best boxing equipment money can buy. Maybe you should start up another business.
