Boxing Exhibition Videos: The Joys Of Youtube

Oh it's been invaluable for me. Being very young and only really getting into boxing in about 2007 I've watched hundreds of full fights and highlight videos on Youtube and other sites I can't mention.

 

I love Youtube for the fights that weren't screened on TV. Means I get to see some footage of the domestic lads that haven't been fortunate enough to get on TV so far.

 

Youtube's been an absolute godsend to me, as i'm sure it has for everyone on here. I'm pretty well-schooled on modern boxing, but my knowledge of the sport pre-90's would be significantly less if it wasn't for the tube.

It gives us so much more exposure to fights, in days gone by a fight would be announced, press conference held and that would be it, you wouldn't hear any more of it until a couple of days before. Now, you get regular updates through a fighters training camps, training footage etc. We can see weigh in footage, and if unable to watch the fight for whatever reason it's usually up there within 48 hours.

 

i've posted this same message a few times here...
i spent so much on old vhs tapes back in the late 80's early 90's from ads in the back of boxing mags {sadly had a theft in 93 and lost them} and it cost me a fortune to build up a collection, and not always on good quality tape either.
i have never taken youtube for granted, it is an aladdins cave i think..i could have never have afforded some of the amazing footage i have seen if it was early 90's again.

also, i recommend that you save some of these videos too, especially the more rare stuff....youtube are cracking down a lot over the last year and suspending accounts left right and centre for little things...and then users maybe not re-upload.
a 1 tb external drive is cheap...maybe 60/70 quid sterling...and then use this site to save them on to it...you'll be glad you did if its rare footage and the users suddenly disapears from youtube...

i like it for many reasons , catching fights from the old days watching classics watching 24/7 watching highlight reels , its just amazing

SuperBoxMMA was a good a YouTube channel till it got taken down but he has got another account SuperBoxMMA0.

 

perfect example of why you should get an external drive and save some of the best stuff.

 

Same here, I started watching old Lewis fights in 2007 and boxing pulled me in. The internet undoes some of the damage PPV has done to the sport
