In my opinion Dan Rafael is wrong, very wrong, Golovkin is top 10 but nowhere near number 1.

I agree, Golovkin is neither #1 by resume nor by the #1 eye-test. But who do you have as #1? Seems that a very good argument could be made against anyone (note that I am not dissing these fighters, just pointing out how they can be criticized):

Ward - the majority of people thought he lost to Kovalev
Kovalev - didn't perform like a p4p #1 against Ward or Chilemba
Loma - hasn't accomplished enough yet
Gonzalez - p4p #1 shouldn't struggle with (lose to) Rungvisai.
Rigo - getting old, has only one good win, has not fought much recently.
Pacquaio - getting old, does not look like p4p #1, got beaten in his last fight against p4p opposition (Floyd). Fighting Horn, who is not elite.
Canelo - is not dominant in any weight class, hasn't beaten anyone elite since Cotto, who he outsized considerably.

G doesn't deserve #1 even if he beats Canelo.

Pound for pound -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_for_pound

Pound for pound is a term used in combat sports such as boxing or mixed martial arts to reflect an assessment as to who the better fighters are, regardless of size (i.e., regardless of weight class). As these fighters do not compete directly, judging the best fighter pound for pound is subjective, and ratings vary

1. Lomachenko
2. Ward
3. Kovalev
4. Canelo
5. Rigondeaux
7. Thurman
8. Golovkin
9. Mikey
10. Pacquiao

Anyone who puts a HW in their P4P list loses credibility

this is pretty close, good list. although I agree about it being early for loma that particular definition doesn't say resume, for that reason red and golovkin are not in the right places

At all, I don't think Canelo (rankings and "lineage" aside), is even a top 3 JMW or MW.
Golovkin is the top MW, but # 1 is a big stretch as I could easily name 5 or 6 guys that
could be ahead of him.

He was right up there circa 2008 thru 2011, but he's not been P4P No1 since then, and I'm no Pacman hater...

I'm sorry but I need to dredge this thread up again. Did you happen to see in the ESPN P4P rankings the list of other fighters who received votes? Deontay Wilder, TOP vote getter of fighters outside the top 10, which basically means they rate him 11th P4P. He received more votes than Joshua, Spence, or Mikey Garcia. That just blows their writer's credibility all to hell for me.
