Could be. He doesn't have the resume to back that up yet though. It only takes one good win though. Rigondeaux only had to beat Donaire before people put him in the top 10.

GGG resume is weak no doubt he has talent but Abraham as fought better opposition than him for all we know he could be Bute when he does step it up

Did Dan Rafeal have an acting role in a movie called Deliverance? Looks familiar to me. He was clean shaven back then.

Golovkin is the best middleweight in the world. He will get his fight with Martinez and chase Quillin, Sturm, Geale, Murray........................

To question if Rafael is an 'expert' on boxing is quite hilarious. He's a boxing writer doing this for a living for a good decade or so isn't he? He certainly is more of an expert than most here on the forum.

Now that doesn't mean one has to agree with him all the time -- or ever at all. Disagreeing is a matter of opinion -- not a question of Rafael's authority on boxing.

100% agree. I could not have said it better. Good post. He deserve to be up the p4p list skill-wise, but people can't put him there until he claims some top victories.

People dont understand you can look like a beast against lower level opposition but when you step up it can be different, until he beats a world class opponent like hes been beating these ones now you can put him high up there

We have no evidence he can do this at the highest level, I think he will prove it by beating Martinez though

Dan Rafael is a complete ******. Rigondeaux's win over Donaire is better than GGG's entire resume.

Of course he is untested relative to an Andre Ward or Froch, but Macklin is a quality MW. He absolutely destroyed him. Stevens, Adama and Proksa are also legit contenders. Very strong contenders? No. But they are LEGITIMATE contenders. Macklin is a strong, solid contender. Rosado outboxed Quillin, who got lucky. GGG has faced a handful of world class MWs. Only a fool would claim otherwise.

    then i'm a fool
there isn't much at MW to crow about, but the fighters you mentioned aren't even second tier behind martinez
macklin lost to 3 'titlists' in the space of 4 fights, but hadn't fought anyone before that - and he hadn't fought anyone because he fought almost exclusively in Britain, racking up a padded record

Come on, man. He got robbed by a current beltholder and put the lineal champ on the canvas in a competitive fight. And he is two levels below?:bart
You're right, you are a damn fool.

guys like tito were regularly put on the canvas within the first 3 rounds but he never lost to any of them
sturm has never fought at top MW in is entire career. being a 'belt holder' is his biggest claim to fame

don't forget, macklin went 28-2 fighting nobodies
2 years later he went 1-4
