http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=5164916 I don't agree with this writers attempt to connect outside the ring behavior to inside the ring, but it was an interesting read that I thought I'd pass along for other boxing fans to make their own opinion? I do know this though..Valero's demise was just beyond sad. First and foremost, my heart goes out to his kids who lost both parents at such a young age and in such tragic fashion. As was stated in the article they are the true victims here and I can't even begin to imagine how hard their lives will be. Edwin was insane when he murdered his wife and then committed suicide. I think the severe brain injury he sustained combined with his drug and alcohol abuse made him crazy. A rational human being wouldn't commit such atrocities like beating your own mother or worse. You hear about soldiers returning from war having post traumatic stress disorders, turning into addicts and going nuts more and more. Not sure how it can be implied that boxing played a role in any of this. Gatti and Arguelo's families are convinced they were murdered and have credible reasons to believe so. I'm not gonna dispute them on that. Forrest was murdered by a complete stranger/coward thief who tried to carjack him. Again, not sure how any of this relates to boxing. Because they had fame and fortune which made them targets, maybe? The same could be said for any wealthy person, celebrity or pro athlete.
