A few years ago I tried starting to watch glory. I'm not a kickboxing expert so I could be wrong about this, but as dominant as Rico has been at heavyweight he hasn't had top fighters to beat like the guys who fought in k1. It always seemed to me like there weren't any really tough fights for him, so he could never reach the status of a Ernesto Boost, but please someone tell me if I'm mistaken.
HW kickboxing certainly isn't what it was in the 90s/00s, but Rico has beaten some good fighters and has the longevity/constancy to place him alongside many of the greats of that era. He's definitely had to deal with some tough moments to keep his title.
GLORY 100 Prelims/Superfights are live on GLORY’s YouTube, right NOW! The main card, which streams live on DAZN in most countries, kicks off in 3 hours. This content is protected
He's the best of right now. Very tough, good skills but no he doesn't compare to the K1 era guys. The Ben Sadik fights show this pretty clearly. Sadik got KO'd by 45 year old Aerts btw.
42-43. He also got brutally KO'd by Edwards around the time. He definitely improved a lot over the years so I wouldn't hold that against Ricos standing. Could definitely see prime Ben Sadik causing some of k-1 legends issues in their primes.

Huge fan of Rico’s! He’s going to be the goat when all is said and done. Still has a little ways to go to overtake Semmy but he’s close
