Hey, I was just wondering, for those of you that have ever criticized any fighter, have ever endured physical punishment, let alone set foot in a ring? If not, how can you criticize any boxer? "Boxing analysts" and "armchair fans" that have never set foot in a ring or boxed seriously and viciously criticize a boxer, or attempt to "advise" technique (unless you are a community contributor or world class trainer) should have their balls cut off.... oh wait, do you guys even have any?? JJ (1999-2004 Chicago Golden Gloves)
Dude, I want to fight. I'm getting myself in shape to do it. I usually just give my opinions on fighters, that's all. I am, sometimes, wrong, I admit. I guess it is the nature of the beast to critcize others when we see faults in them. I think it's like that in almost every culture.
All sports athletes get criticized for not performing. It comes with the job. as well as fame, money wtc.
Its just part of being a fan! I mean we pay the 55.95 PPV prices. We pay for the tickets and watch the fights. I think deep inside all of us wish we had the balls to go up in the ring and take shots. When these guys are up in the ring, they fight for us as well. When your favorite boxer gets the brains beat out of him.... there is no words to explain it! You feel like it was you that got dropped. I've even seen some people cry! We support them through bad times and even when everybody says that they are shot, we still root for them! Its our opinion and everyone is allowed to have one. Personally I respect every pro boxer out there. For example Joan Guzman, I really don't care for the guy too much. Don't like his style or his attitude . But you know what? if I ever saw the guy walking around, Id run up to him and get a picture and autograph! Why cause I respect him doing his thing! And I love boxing! So if we, as fans, are so passionate about this sport, then of course we talk trash! It's how we feel ! It's how we vent. Even if we were rooting for Margo and he got KTFO! Yeah we are going to trash Mosley, but deep inside I admire his work ethic, his skills and his performance. If nobody was critical or negative on these forums. We would have nothing to talk about. But this is just my opinion!
I think criticising a fighter is fine, but calling the a coward and things like that are not. And yes, i have been smashed in the ring, boxing ring that is.
Ive been through a few rounds of sparring and its not a good feeling having hard leather being smashed on any part of your face and having your neck hurting and being tired lol.
exactly. and as a boxing fan that follows & supports the sport (financially as well) you better believe i'm giving credit & **** to where its due. all the scuffles & scraps i've had in my life have nothing to do with me 'commentating'. :smoke **** guzman.
Boxed as a teenager before the women and the drink became more attractive than getting my face smashed in on a weekly basis. :good
