I'm not sure what the title is supposed to mean. Boxing is why there are less boxing fans, boxing fans don't control boxing. There are inherent problems within the game that are far bigger than Wladimir Klitschko's performance and the subsequent reaction. Infact, the undercard of tonight epitomized one of the huge problems, it was a **** weak overall card that nobody gave two shits about except for the main event.

I thought Wlad did a good job tonight. The end justified the means. It wouldn't have been too good if he didn't get the knockout because he had Chambers at his mercy for a long period and didn't truely step up the pace until the last few rounds. But in the end he got the KO and he performed well throughout so he deserves a lot of credit.

As effective as it is safety first is never pleasing to the eye.

If people find it boring fine, then switch off like I do, but don't complain about a man that keeps winning, what more can he do?

Coming from a Floyd fan I find that pathetic.

Wladimir is the best heavyweight around, he can fight the top contenders and only get hit a total of 10 times in the fight. Which is exactly what boxing is about, hit and not getting hit. If you can't appreciate that you don't appreciate the true art of sweet science.

Unlike Floyd, who runs around the ring against sub-par, one dimensional fighters like Baldomir, Wladimir actually presses the action and usually gets the brutal stoppage. Sure, Floyd has a wealth of skill, and I appreciate them, but I also appreciate Wladimirs equal skill level.

Another guy who just doesn't get it. Heavyweights fair or not are held to a different standard. Wlad is a huge heavyweight with long arms and incredible power but he chooses to come forward behind a pawing jab and wanting no part of any exchanges although he's usually the bigger stronger and better guy. Floyd on the other hand is a defensive counter puncher who's not blessed with big size or power. So it's totally different. Wlad is effective at what he does but it's boring to many boxing fans and he doesn't look good doing it.

LOL @ this **** here. The oversized "champ" takes 11.95 rounds to take out what is essentially a cruiserweight campaigning in the HW division whose extra fat lbs are just enough to push him out of cruiser. Yeah, certainly impressive. It's not as if Wlad enjoyed every statistical advantage there is to enjoy or anything. Before either combatant even laced up the gloves the outcome of this fight was academic. The only thing in question was the manner in which it would occur and as usual Wlad underwhelmed. Now the much revered Tyson, on the other hand, was the exact opposite of Wlad. He entered most of his fights at statistical disadvantage to most of his opponents (except for power) and yet, still, he took it to those big *******s, fighting with evil intentions. The man put a goddam skirt on Frank Bruno who's physically similar to Wlad himself.

No one is disputing Wlad's physical gifts and attributes. Most of us take issue with his general uninspired robotic suckiness versus supremely overmatched opponents who can barely reach his face. It's a complete misuse of those aforementioned gifts and attributes and ultimately at the end of every Wlad fight most who witnessed are left wondering how their favorite fighter would fare if they were indeed blessed with Wlad's physical gifts. Just imagine if Tyson came 6 foot 6 with 81 inch reach and supreme power. Sheeeeit, I shudder at the notion. But forget Tyson. Even if Ray Mercer or David Tua or Tommy Morrisson, even, came in Klitschko dimensions bad things would occur. On top of all this Wlad hugs anybody who manages to get within their arm's distance of Wlad . . . even if the guy has no power. I don't like huggy fighters. I've never known anyone else to like huggy fighters. It just makes you look like a *****.

So it's not about what Wlad does or doesn't say. Hell, half of us on ESB don't even care if a fighter even has a mouth. And the other half who do care only care because it's an excellent place to get punched in. So what's really bothering everybody that doesn't give a **** about Wlad fighting whenever he fights? Well, to put it succinctly, we're sick and tired of watching Wlad outsize his opponents. That's all he ever does. If I was interested in that I'd just go to a Toughman contest and watch some big dude beat up littler dude over 20 bucks and some braggin' rights. So I will continue to not give a **** about Wlad until Wlad actually does something worth giving a **** about. I've got like a thousand channels and although he's "the champ" I, along with all of the TV networks, agree that he doesn't deserve to be on any one of them (public access included). I'm content with Wlad fighting in cyberspace, virtual reality, whatever as long as it ain't on my box and I honestly wouldn't pay one red cent to get a live feed of the deplorable *******.

P.S. I've seen school girls with more heart and killer instinct.

Wald must be pulling his hair out at this point.. what must he do to get recognized kill someone.. ??

But on the real, the heavy weight devision is to weak to offer someone for him to really test his skills.

The thread topic is funny, yet I came across some good points reading the whole thread.

    Just some thoughts:

    1. @ Widdow Maker: Boxing fans, be it American or not, have every right to find Wlad Klitschko either extremely boring or very entertaining. It's the fans' right to prefer aggressive fighters that seek the knockout from the opening bell than cautious fighters who would rather box their way to a win. You can't say "the sport is going downhill in the US" just cause most people don't have the same taste as you when it comes to fighting styles. Mayweather is an all time great with amazing skills, yet you'll find he has more haters than fans, it's just the way it is. And I didn't see many people in this thread say that Klitschko isn't a great boxer, they're just saying he's boring and even though I'm a Wlad fan, I can't blame them for saying that after fights like the one he had vs Ibragimov.

    2. His brother Vitali aside (as they'll never fight each other), Wlad is clearly the best of the bunch. It's not even close. He's got the size, the power and the strategy to make very good boxers (yet undersized most of the time) seem very ordinary against him. This is a fact and I don't think that many will disagree.

    3. Many people said that they prefered the pre-Sanders version of Wlad Klitschko. No objections here, yet Klitschko probably wouldn't be so dominant if he had continued to fight that way. He's found a way to win his fights convincingly while minimizing the chances of him getting knocked out as before, although his style isn't nearly as exciting, which makes people bash him a lot. Basically, he sacrificed aggressiveness to increase his winning chances.

    4. For me, it makes perfect sense to fight the way Wlad fights right now, when he faces relatively big guys or punchers. It doesn't make sense when he's fighting much smaller guys like Ibragimov or Chambers, when it is clear that they can't hurt him even if they catch him clean.

Wlad needs to get into more "Peter" type fights to get some more boxing fans.

100% agree with the OP, Wlad is on of the best boxers, if not the best of the last 10 years period. If he was American he would be lauded as the best thing ever.
Hes not, so the bleeding heart crybabies (american) say anything they can to downplay his style, wins and knockouts.
A better place for the american fans to place their anger and disapointment would be , oh , I dont know, maybe their challangers coming into a heavyweight world championship fight fat, yes I say it FAT.
I am not talking about thier skills, footwork, speed, they can even be bothered to get in shape (ie...not have 20lb of flab around the middle).
The last 2 americans....Arreola, not sure I even want to go there, the guy comes on tv on the run up to fight, saying he has a CHEESEBURGER problem..... Chambers 209, in shape right?, hell no...fat, so ya say Wlad is a bigger guy at 247, well sure he is, but with enough laying around and eating anough cheeseburgers I am sure he could look just as fat.....
Exept he does not, he trains, diets and wins.....So place the blame where it belongs, lazy fat american heavyweights.......

    :good Excellent analysis.

I don't visit ESB as much as I used to due to the high number of troll posters. Too many US fans are showing themselves as sore losers. Boxing as well as all other areas of business have become more global, more competitive. The US has lost much of it's manufacturing base and has mostly replaced them with lower paying "service" jobs. Our national debt grows larger w/each prez, reagrdless of R or D after their name. Most, including the current one, are owned by higher powers and do NOT represent YOU ! That should worry most US citizens more than two brothers from the Ukraine dominating the HW div.

Facts are facts, if fans aren't buying, there's a reason.

To dismiss American fans who through the years paid their hard earned cash to support boxing and practically made the sport what it is today is a ****ing disgrace.

What you seem to forget is that American boxings last two great HW's were the opposite of Klitschko, come forward all action fighters, it's what pleases the American casual fan.

If it's purely American fans that are fickle how come Lennox Lewis made it?

    You need to check yourself.

You need to check your reading comprehension. Boxing across the world is not dying. Boxing is thriving in other countries. Boxing is going downhill in the United States.
