I'm not a huge fan of MMA. Actually, barely watch it. Maybe its the PPV thing..and I'm not a huge fan of grappling even though I understand the great purpose of it...especially in a "real fight." Overall, I'm a fight fan and I'll watch other things like Kick-boxing and Women's mud and/or Oil wrestling...so I may eventually watch it more as the years go on and only if the fighters continue to evolve. Anyway....moving along to two things I like better about MMA: (1) Smaller gloves. I think they use 4oz. In boxing, I'm in favor of going back to 8oz for all divisions. Maybe even 6oz gloves like they did Pre-WWII. Smaller gloves may equal more knockouts which in return, can have less worry about judging. Maybe. Health of the fighters? atsch If I cared I would say ban the sport. After all, getting punched for a living is not recommended by Doctors. So if we are going to do this, let's do this right. And it's not like I'm asking to go real old school on this like the Ancient Greeks and Romans...now that would be crazy. Although.... (2) Penalties for lack luster fighting. In BUSHIDO, This content is protected are used in the same way that This content is protected are used in PRIDE FC. In BUSHIDO, if fighters commit the following actions, they shall be given a red card by officials: Stalling or failure to initiate any offensive attack, making no attempt to finalize the match or damage the opponent, and holding the opponent's body with the arms and legs to produce a stalemate. A red card results in a 10% deduction/fine of the fighter's fight purse. A major difference in the penalty card system between PRIDE FC and BUSHIDO is that in PRIDE FC a total of three yellow cards results in a disqualification, while in BUSHIDO red cards can be given out in an unlimited number without disqualification http://www.pridefc.com/pride2005/whats_rules.htm
I'm ashamed to admit it but, I prefer UFC to Boxing. My old posts would strongly disagree, but with politics, bad refereeing and judging, fights not being made, horrible undercards, mismatches. Everything just got to me. I look at UFC with pretty much 1 guy deciding who fights who. He's a fight fan and knows fighting, so everything he wants to see is done. If people don't like it, they don't complain about money being split or drug tests, they shut the **** up, pack their bags and fight in some low league for peanuts because UFC makes it feel like a privalige to fight there, not a right. Also with LOTS of boxing going the distance in sluggish fights over 2011 and UFC maybe having it's most exciting year ever, it just all build up. Ultimate Fighter, Nick and Nate Diaz, exciting HW division. But I'm sure EVERYONE will agree the best part...ONE ****ING CHAMPION!
It would take a very long time to implement these new changes into boxing. These are new rules here. Did you know there's actually technology used to measure the power and speed of a punch, but it's not even in the light? Cotto(e)-Clottey wore these devices for their fight. boxing is a caveman sport stuck in the stone age. You stil have trainers telling people any weights at all is bad
1. Hell NO big gloves are a very important part of boxing and many boxing styles to get rid of big gloves would also get rid of many styles of boxing. 2. same as 1 also some fighters can't afford to go all out due their chin and should be allowed to fight defensively.
Definitely not the pay (To the top guys). A Mayweather or a Pacquiao wouldn't even blink @ the pay of the top UFC guy.
Yeah MMA has some good things about it even if you dont like the sport, the organisation and shows they put on are great. The childish comments of MMA is gay and **** is so ignorant its unbelievable. Some of you need to grow the **** up, you are aware that boxers fight topless and do alot of hugging as well, is that gay?
i'd be willing to watch mma/ufc if i had a tv installed in my bathroom. it may help with the difficult bowel movements.
who gives a **** about fighter pay though, especially as a fan? GSP and Anderson Silva still make millions. They live comfortable life styles and fight the best opposition out there.
If every fight I've watch didn't consist of guys wrestling on the ground just waiting for the ref to stand them back up, maybe I'd prefer it
i just find mma/ufc hard to watch. i seriously fall asleep when it's on. not entertaining at all. also....i get that they have to worry about kicks and take downs and all of that...but their defense for punching is horrible and hard to watch.
