Its cool if you dont like it, though I find it strange you fall asleep when fights are 15 minutes long and probs half of them end up in a finish, you must do some long hours lol. The stupid namecalling and **** is what annoys me, these are highly trained athletes and to disrespect any athlete and the majority of sports is just stupid to me.
GOOD. Boxing gloves were made to protect the hands and not made for being used as a shield. Boxing original intent was an "Offensive/Defensive Art" used by Soldiers to fight in real life situations. Bigger gloves get away from the original intent/meaning/purpose of what "Boxing" was about. Ex: If you are a kid that gets bullied and want to learn how to fight...you can go to a gym to learn "Boxing." But what is better for that kid to learn with...Big Gloves or Smaller gloves closer to hand size which would help him in a real life situation? Small gloves forces you to have a different defense...a defense closer to that of a true fist fight. Defense should be about parrying punches, bobbing and weaving, rolling with a punch, moving away from the attack, etc...and not sticking your gloves up tight and blocking punches. That's BULL**** and does not prepare you in a real life situation because your hand-size is not nearly the size of a 10 oz glove. 6 oz gloves were used in boxing before during some great years. And at least get rid of 10 oz.
Any boxing fan that can't admit there are some better things are full of it. Atleast admit the cards are better on average, since there is more to it than the main event.
You have a complete misunderstanding about it.. I'll put it simply.. They use smaller gloves.. :smoke
Honestly boxing isn't really about learning how to fight in real life anymore. As MMA is far more realistic in terms of how an actual fight would go. Now boxing is more about getting in shape and learning how to box. If you want to fend of bullies honestly MMA is better.
Weight training is bad. 'Any weights' Eh..not really But the stuff that people think of when they think 'weight training' yeah..all that stuff..that stuff is bad for boxers. Plain and simple.
See..that's the common misconception. Without getting all into it. Weight training is bad for most combat sports. The type of strength achieved from weight training rarely if ever equates into wins by result of that 'strength'.
This is hogwash. This is hogwash too. There is no amount of training be it karate, boxing, brazilian ju jitsu, shaolin kung fu, tai chi, sambo, muay thai, judo etc that is going to make a person a fighter if that someone isn't a fighter. What they can do is help you 'defend' yourself. Defending yourself is a matter of not being a target and helping to get you out of what might be a potenially dangerous physical altercation. Boxing as well as any of the other above mentioned fighting methods can help you do that. It's not about the gloves, its not about the 'ground and pound' of mma (which isn't really a technique at all; saying 'mma' helps with fighting is stupid.), its just about doing what it takes to get out of there with the least amont of damage to yourself as possible.
Because it suited their approach and technique to boxing. That's why, and it was probably used as a therapy to help maintain some level of strength rather than max out etc.. Weight training does not translate into increased punching power. It's still not something that most boxer's do or should do.
