    David Haye quotes.....

"Believing you can be a star in the UFC just because you're good with your fists is like a cricketer expecting to win Wimbledon just because he's good at hitting a ball with a bat. "

    and

"I've rolled around with MMA guys in the past - and even use British mixed martial artist James Zikic for sparring - and I know how hard it is to fight these guys. They are very physically strong and are very dangerous in the clinch and on the ground. Those are two positions that pro boxers are not used to. Also, despite always starting on my feet with these guys, I was finding myself taken to the mat eight times out of 10. That gives me a two in 10 chance of landing a hard punch and knocking my MMA opponent out."

Everyone who considers boxing an art understands the science. Everyone who doesn't understand it, thinks it is barbaric. The same is true of MMA. When I say the science I mean the real science and intelligence behind each move, each counter, each combo, every technique etc

I very occasionally watch the big UFC fights. Other than that I don't really tune in, and I never pay for the matches. I only watch if friends are getting together or going to bar to watch. I don't have a problem with MMA, I just don't care to follow it.

This is pretty ridiculous, since neither sport is like streetfight? Do guys wear underwear and roll around on concrete or gravel in a street fight? Do guys wear 10 ounce gloves, tape, wrap, trunks and mouthguard in a street fight? It's a stupid argument. THe only thing that should count is why sport is more entertaining.

well the whole thing about street fighting is one of the reasons the ufc was even created in the first place to settle that argument and well who ever follows mma knows that the outcome of that argument was

The thing that I think shocks and offends many boxing fans is that MMA is growing in popularity and its product is just not that good. Specifically, when compared to boxers, it's fighter are not even close in terms of natural talent, skill and experience. THis is not their fault. THe fact is that MMA didn't have an real amateur system until a few years ago...and it will take time. MMA is probably about 10-15 years away from delivering a truly elite fighter. No, Fedor is not an elite fighter. He is not on the same pages as RJJ, Mayweather or Pac. He's the best of a middling lot. Remember how long it took boxing to produce great fighters, decades.

i'm glad because i love gsp's grappling but i think he could improve his stand up. i think boxing as a striking base is brillant for footwork, defence and great effective hand strikes. if he could put his crazy kicks on that then wow.

Fedor, GSP and BJ in terms of grappling are the creme. Shogun and Silva in terms of striking are the creme. Fighters now are unbelievable.

All that will happen now is people will incorporate more and more skills i.e. fighters are beginning to work the body work, move their head, punch in combos etc Skill will increase in wrestling, judo, bjj, muay thai etc You can see it in GSP, Cung Le and others. The kicks they are now employing are insane.
