Obviously Termite is still high school age. Whether or not he goes to high school, however, is doubtful.

A shame this thread has been derailed by an immature poster with little sense or perspective.

In the 80s all the kids in school knew who the heavyweight champ was, unlike now.

Regarding the whole Ali Tyson debate, there really is no comparison. Not many sporting legends are famous outside their own continents, Ali was famous and loved throughout the world.

As an example, in the 1999 BBC poll of the greatest sportsman of the 20th century, guess who won more votes than the following combined: Pele, Best, Nicolaus, Owens ?

And despite his illness, he came out with the best line that night, when he announced a comeback!

I think that probably has something to do both with our obsession with authenticity and Tyson actually serving some jail time. Tyson was (and is) considered a crazy person but unlike Cosby who tried to establish himself as a moral authority, whose reputation was based on an overtly wholesome image of himself the idea of Cosby as a ****** as a bad man makes people feel lied to. Tyson was always a bad guy; now he is an entertaining bad guy. Tyson has merely played to his type whereas Cosby and Jackson shattered the illusion of their public image.

Tyson is a truly fascinating character who has lived his life with a raw honesty. There is no trying to hide his demons they are there for all to see and I can't help but admire the way in which he has re-invented himself and seems to have come to terms with his tumultuous past. Respect.

Absolutely spot on. I don't think probably some of the younger posters realise just how iconic and well known Ali was, he was simply the most famous man in the world.
He would go on tours of countries and meet presidents he brought places to a standstill, could you Imagine Mayweather garnering that attention or respect?
This is not even debatable it's simply fact, and when the sad day happens when he eventually passes away, the doubters will see for themselves how famous this man actually is.

Get a life duck egg. Try leaving your boring myopic little world. More people on this planet are into music than fukking boxing and prince is an icon of music.

Can you get your feeble brain around that.

Perhaps that might explain why Prince and people like him are worth far more than your soppy little hero Tyson, is, was, and ever could have been.

Can you grasp that duck egg? Does it bother you that certain musicians make far more money than your heroes duck egg? I must admit I find it flattering that you follow me around this board like a lost puppy duck egg, but you really must start doing more research if you feel the need to answer my posts.

How many songs has Tyson had written " about " him? To say Tyson was as well known as Ali is crass. People who have less than no interest in sport, never mind boxing know the name Muhammad Ali, in every corner of the globe. You can start with 1.5 billion muslims, which is why he was wrongly and disastrously sent to the Middle East as a peace envoy.

The same can not be said about Tyson, no matter how much his fan boys wish it were true.

    I know.
I've already admitted Ali was more famous than Tyson. But Tyson is probably second only to Ali in this regard, at least these days.

see that was really cool Foxy,,,

you finally paid attention and shut up about that "OTHER" subject :good

as far as this last post, all i said was that Tyson was more famous world wide then Prince and Sinead Oconner, i thought that is correct Foxy? Are you saying otherwise? Maybe i am wrong? I was factoring in how Asia and India became fascinated with Tyson in the late 80's and they have a third of the worlds population.

as far as Ali being even more famous i agree with you and never said otherwise.

so what point were you trying to make? That i am a Tyson lover?
