Let's put it this way.. In 1988 you could have walked up to a 10 year old girl on the street and asked her who the heavyweight champion of the world was and she'd immediately reply " Mike Tyson!!" Today you can walk into a sports bar frequented by 40 year old men who spend half their lives watching sporting events and 90% have never even heard of the current heavyweight champion.

I would say that is highly debatable duck egg. I believe Prince would be very well known worldwide, probably as well known if not more so than Tyson duck egg. India has no fascination with boxing per se duck egg, never mind Tyson in particular, unless he has suddenly learned how to play cricket.

Boxing is a minority sport duck egg. Music is a global phenomena duck egg. As a consequence Tyson's potential audience is limited. 500 million North Americans and Brits do not a global population make duck egg. So when you factor in the fact that not EVERY North American or Brit knows or cares who Tyson is. I think there is a very good chance more people worldwide know Prince than Tyson.

Furthermore I believe more people know the song Nothing Compares 2 You globally than know Tyson, and seeing as how it was O'Connors version that sold,,,,,

The song became a worldwide hit, topping charts in O'Connor's native Ireland, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It also became a top-five single in France and a top-20 in Denmark.

Now you might have noticed duck egg there are countries listed there that don't give a flying fuk about boxing, and having no access or interest in North American " news " will neither know nor care about whether or not Tyson abused yet another woman, or should have killed his useless self in a car wreck.

Yet these people will IMMEDIATELY recognise that particular song duck egg.

Do you see where I am going here duck egg?

As for replying to your moronic opinions on racism, if I see you have mentioned it anywhere on this board I will continue to ridicule your stance on the subject, and you can cry and scream about it to whoever you like.

Hopefully you will be sickened to the point of regretting you ever brought it up in the first place.

Is that also clear duck egg?

Let me be the first to tell you there is a WHOLE world OUTSIDE of Murica. And in that REAL world the overwhelming majority of ten year old girls would do what ten year old girls have ALWAYS done, and knowing, or caring who the Heavyweight champion of the world was would be bottom of the list.

True, but Tyson was that popular, despite their lack of interest I dare say even quite a few ten year old girls in 1988 would know of Mike Tyson.

They definitely did. Ranging from his widely advertised fights to his Nintendo video game ( which every kid had ) Tyson's name and face was all over the place and on the cover of every magazine and news paper. And it wasn't just in America where he was popular either. When he went to Tokyo to fight Tubbs, everyone knew who he was and his name was well known in Great Britain as well. He was an overnight sensation.

This is pure fantasy I'm afraid. Not every kid had Nintendo, and certainly not every ten year old girl. I have no knowledge or interest in Nintendo but I suspect that most ten year old girls wouldn't be remotely interested in looking at a game about Mike Tyson, even if he was portrayed as the goodie killing all the aliens, or whatever else they dream up.

And I can assure you that Tyson's face was NOT on the cover of every newspaper and magazine outside of Murica. Why do Muricans have this stupid habit of stating their country represents the world. It doesn't. It has a very big stake in a minority sport. Boxing.

I know, but I was intentionally trying to argue like a little girl whereas Foxy was just being himself :p

Why don't you relax a little Bert? Enjoy Foxy and me rather than allowing it to ruin it. Laugh at how silly it is. Or skip over it. I have laughed at it many times, both my responses and obviously Foxy's. When I told him that Lennox Lewis basically liked me better than him and he responded in a serious way I was laughing for 5 minutes trying to post back before I could finally compose a complete post.

I am not the racist in unjust hateful ways Bert. I don't think my race is superior to any other races. I happen to think my race is pretty horrific in many ways when compared to other races. Still I don't perceive my race as inferior or superior as I don't see myself as superior or inferior. I have claimed I am superior to Foxy but I am intentionally doing this to get under his skin as I am aware he has a superiority complex. I don't see myself as superior or inferior, I perceive myself as sometimes smart only in the next moment to be very dumb, then I see this as the pattern of my life, thus I am constantly having to correct dumb thoughts just to survive. Is that inferior, if so that's me. If you need to hate me because of that then that is your right :good

Lets not forget Bert, Foxy twisted my words on this forum and then began referring to me as a self confessed Racist while doing so using HIS exact definition of the word Racism while refusing to honour mine. That's uncool anyway you cut it Bert. If it upset you reading the fall out from this I am sorry dude. However, a man is hopefully allowed to fight childish behaviour with childish behaviour on this public forum is he not?

Looking this up Nintendo was in 30% of all households in the us from 87 to 90...huge popularity.Tysons punch out sold over 2 million copies.I guess most kids owning NES did have this in their homes.

Not as historical in events but that's not overall popularity.Of Course Ali has the advantage he was heavyweight champion,he also has decades of followers. Its close.I'll even give Ali the nod here, but everywhere/everday on the media its Floyd this and Floyd that...ali never had that.

You're just a sore loser Foxy, tell us the truth you have a biased look on Tyson because you never were able to defeat him in punch out, thats the real reason why you are butt hurt when discussing him ,right?I know you still have an NES and to this day still fail to beat him ,you even have the cheat codes don't you ,that's why he infuriates you so much that you went thru many busted consoles and controllers ?:yep
