So welcome! As a both a boxing fan and a MMA fan - I hope you enjoy the show. The PPV is stacked with great matches and the Toney/Couture fight will be fascinating for however long it lasts. Feel free to stop by the MMA forum if you have any questions prior to the bout. See ya Saturday night! [yt]SsH5L7mDEFI[/yt]
lol, goofball, why you promoting UFC in a boxing forum? You think none of us are aware of this sport? Thanx to you, the ambassador of UFC, us boxing lemmings are enlightened.... I expect this self-serving crap thread moved out of here, as appropiate... sidenote - im having a UFC party at my place this weekend already, though a lousy undercard vs 117
I'm promoting it because there aren't many times a future hall of fame boxer fights in the UFC. It is going to be very interesting. No need to be hostile. Of course this thread will get moved to the MMA forum because anything mentioning MMA gets moved - but that won't change the fact that a high level boxer is fighting in a MMA vs Boxing style match. This is a great card featuring a great lightweight title fight as well as a number one contender match in addition to the Toney/Couture fight. What makes you think otherwise?
Calderon/Segura should be a good fight. I haven't seen the undercard yet - but I bet UFC 118 has a better overall card because boxing promoters don't put on good cards any more and you'll watch it because you replied to this thread. You will be there.
I'm sure it does, but I don't much care about the undercard. The PPV is only like 15 bucks, so it's fine if the undercard isn't stacked. They will have the Arroyo bros. on the undercard so that's fine by me. I only replied to this thread because it was in the Boxing forum, and I might check out the Toney...whoever he's facing fight at a later date when I know the results. If Toney wins I'll watch, if he doesn't but the other guy KO's Toney I'll watch it. If he dry humps Toney for a win, I won't bother watching it.
Actually Randy Couture is going to choke Toney unconscious because I don't think James Toney will ever tap out.
This match is pointless. There isn't a single boxing fan who will give Couture an ounce of credit should he beat Toney (unless they're already an MMA fan as well). They'll **** all over him for taking the fight to the ground and not standing and trading with Toney. My advice to boxing fans is that if you've hated MMA before this fight then stay away. You'll still hate it once it's over.
I wouldn't be surprised if this event helped boxing fans see MMA in a new light. There are going to be several great fights on this card.
