With the talk of Pac-Mosley being all but confirmed for April 16, we still have some time to make our voice heard before it becomes official. As Kellerman put it during the Martinez broadcast, Mosley is unacceptable as the next oppoinent for Pacquiao. Shane is one of my favorite fighters but his last two fights show that he represents nothing but a cherry picking, cash grab for Pacquiao at this point. Pacquiao's reputation is that of a warrior who takes on the biggest and baddest challenges out there and for most of his career, he has. Lately his opponent selection has been very questionable. We were happy with Cotto, even at 145, because he is a warrior and we were hoping that pre-Margo Cotto would show up that night. Either way, this was a great win for Pac and the nail in the coffin to those who questioned Pac's greatness. We were all disappointed with Clottey and Margarito but gave Pac the benefit of the doubt because both opponents had significant size advantages and Mayweather did not appear willing/able to make the fight. Deep down, we all knew that neither guy had much of a chance against Pacquiao and they were selected as Pac's opponent for that very reason. Marquez is the only fighter to give Pacquiao trouble since his loss to Morales almost 6 years ago. The two Pac-JMM fights were as good as any we have seen over the past decade and, while Pacquiao has improved immensely, Marquez has come back from the one-sided drubbing he received from Mayweather and looks as dangerous as ever. We know he has the style that presents a real challenge to Pacquiao and is one of the few fighters with a heart that rivals the Pacman. Ariza has stated many times that they have to feed Pacquiao an abnormal amount of food to even maintain weight in the 140's during the later parts of camp. Most Pacquiao fans will tell you that his best fighting weight is 140, despite his brilliance against welterweights. 140 is a weight for Pac where he would be able to train at his usual pace and simply cut weight by adjus*ting his diet. Marquez is a natural lightweight but normally fights between 140 and 145. Pacquiao has made his opponents at an "advantage" cut weight below what they are comfortable at to level the playing field because he is the smaller man, meet in the middle as they say. Now they are claiming that Pacquiao is a full welterweight and thus any fight with Marquez must be at 147. This is the type of contradiction that screams duck. Boxing fans, let's unite. Please post your support here for Pacquiao vs JMM III at 140 pounds as the real fight to once again validate Pacquiao's legacy as an ATG and a warrior. Anything else (assuming no Mayweather) is unacceptable and will not be supported. Thanks
I think making Marquez move up to 147 is a **** move especially considering his age and the fact hes best as a lightweight. 140 seems fair to me
Not sure why everyone is retrospectively so dismissive of Clottey, until he was scheduled to fight Pac he was considered a bad mother****er. Then suddenly, once the contract is signed, he's a nobody. Clottey destroyed Diego Corrales. He was beating up on a Margarito with loaded gloves. He beat the **** out of Zab Judah. He went to a split decision with Cotto. Who was supposed to be a tougher fight than Clottey? Bradley??? Clottey would kill him. What do you have to gain from being such a hater?
PBFred told me won the bet. :yep just kidding bro Yeah, Pac-JMM at 140-144 was my first choice along with Martinez at 156-160. Mosley is just collecting his retirement check and this fight is as good as inhouse for Bob Arum. Pac has to fight again on November 2011. I hope JMM gets his deserved chance. Berto can wait.
Where exactly am I hating? Clottey was coming off a loss and was nowhere near any P4P rankings when he signed the fight with Pac. It was an in-house, Top Rank sham. Deal with it.
Nobody thought that when it was signed, personally I liked the Clottey-Pac matchup. I thought it was intriguing. However, after the FIGHT happened, I think it's fair to say that Clottey haters (rightfully) emerged.
Pac/Marquez at 140lbs. seems fair. Anything above 140 won't be a "fight". Martinez/Pac at 160 :rofl :rofl Seriously?
The only people that don't want it are *******s, they hide behind "PACQUIAO will KO this **** drinker" deep down they are afraid for yet another PAC struggle.
Everybody wants this fight at 140 exept the people who fear Marquez. Roach wants it @ 147, Arum wants it @ 147 and the *******s who say that marquez is a welterweight fighter want it @ 147. I bet you anything that Pacquiao has no issues with making the fight @ 147.
