a great contradiction: XXXXX isnt undisputed, he hasnt fought the IBF titlist XXX, the WBA titlist XXXXXX next post: He isnt a champion, the belts mean nothing
He was still carrying fat at 190, and at his increasing age was unable to shed some of it. Given more dedicated training, a prime Toney could easily make 175 in my judgment.
A prime Toney yes. Today's Toney no way. I don't care how much he trains and how much fat he sheds. My original point stands, a fighter who claims that his most embarrasing loss was due to struggling to make 168 should not be refered to as a blown up middleweight
If Ali became an old and obese 300 lbs, I would still consider him a blown-up 210 pounder, since 210 represents his optimum weight given correct training in his prime--even if Ali cannot reach it as an old, obese man anymore. This is the logic I use for Toney's 168 or 175.
The logic I use is we were all born under 10 pounds. A fighters start weight is in no way an inidcation of his natural weight as his career progresses. I'd concede that JT is not a natural heavy but he is not a natural heavy but he is not a natural 168 either. He was only able to hold onto that weight for 2 years when he was 24 and even then he stuggled. His body matured. Calling him a natural 168 would be like calling Oscar a natural lightweight or pacquiao a natural 112
Actually I stand corrected, The Ring didn't have him in the top 10. That was the year-end poll they do in which he was #8, with The Ring's counting for one of the votes. http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Pound_For_Pound--1990s I still give DLH credit though in the first fight with Chavez for a good win over an aging great.
Look at this someone borught the thread back. How about Judah is china chinned because he was rocked by baldomir though he never went down and finished the fight on his feet. Gatti gets dropped repedeatly and stopped and there is nothing wrong with his chin.
Judah's chin isn't that terrible. It's shaky, but not that bad. Gatti's got one of those weird type thing where he's easy to initially drop or hurt, but extremely hard to put away. It's also his heart, but it seemed like he needed to get woken up and get dropped or hurt, and then suddenly he'd take the shots better. Gatti took a lot more flush shots than Judah though. Gatti's defense, particularly for a straight right hand, was horrendous, and he took so many flush rather than rolling with them. Against Mayweather he tried to block them after they landed.
Here is one: Pac fans saying that when pac got k.oed early in his career was because he was weight drained but when morales fans said the same thing about morales being k.oed in the second and third fight they were usseles excusses.Or saying that pac lost to morales cuz "the cut" or other excusses like "the socks" but barrera fans can't make real reasonable excusses like the metal plate in his head or the training camp issues.
