I reckon boxing fans are the worst fans in the world. 90% of them just jump on the bandwagon of whoever is the hottest property now. Their is no loyalty to fighters when they lose. They are just forgotton about and considered bums until they get another big win. But fans just completely change what fighters they like depending on who's winning and losing. This ****es me off. Just a bunch of band wagon jumpers is all 90% of fans are. I support fighters like a football team. I support them win loose or draw for their entire careers. This is not a troll thread. I just really wanna know peoples opinions on this. Plus I reckon if fighters didn't got wrote off after a loss then maybe they would be more willing for the good fights.
You people should know by now that I don't have a high opinion of my fellow boxing fans. I think the majority of boxing fans are gullible idiots. This is why the PBC is able to get away with such low-quality fights, because they know people are dumb enough to pay for them. They also have short-term memory loss, which is why they keep falling for fighters who aren't proven yet. This is also why they bandwagon on a fighter after a good performance, even if said fighter didn't look so good in the previous fight. I mean, you'd think eventually, they'd learn to wait until a fighter is proven, but no. They're also fickle, like you said. If a fighter loses, they say, "Oh, he was never that good", or "He got exposed".
Not me. I just told ya if I support a fighter I follow him to the end. Like I do my football team. But you were right wen u said every one is guilty. Well bout 90℅ of people. I most certainly am not one of them
If youre talking about casual boxing fans I have to agree. I have several fighters Ive supported for years but, when they lose several in a row, I wish theyd hang it up. Paulie Malignaggi is the example Ill use. I love the guy but would rather listen to him commentate then watch him decline and take punishment.
I agree. Many fans are fickle and seem to have severe short term memories. A major contributing factor is the internet, specifically places like this. Many people seem incapable of having objective, calm discussions and instead end up arguing like children. This leads to people changing their opinion on that boxer and disrespecting said boxer based on that particular boxers fans. This is quite possibly one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. How does a fighters ability have anything to do with their fans and why change your opinion on a particular person based on someone else? The fighter can not control his own fans so why punish him for it? Another daft and childish impact the internet has inadvertently promoted is people wanting to cling on to a young prospect early so as they can brag that they "found" him first. A posters "fighter" beating another posters "fighter" is another "my ***** is bigger than yours" game that fans get in to. These pointless competitive games are quite weird to me and some other fans I talk to. I , like many fans, have certain boxers I support for various reasons (they hail from my home country, they have a style that is appealing to me, they are a decent person), however, I more support the sport than the boxers per se. Most of the time I just want to see a good competitive match than want to see any particular fighter come out victorious. A lot of fans aren't like this though and care more about getting one over on a guy that they argued on the internet with.
