Ok with the new Micky Ward film coming out soon, it got me thinking what boxing events do you think could inspire a new big budget movie (i.e. Great white hype = Holmes v Cooney, Rocky = Wepner v Ali) or boxing careers (i.e. Ali = Muhammad Ali, Raging bull = Jake LaMotta, Cinderella man = James Braddock)

    My immediate two thoughts:

    1. George Foreman's return from exile to become the oldest person to ever win the heavyweight belt.

    2. James Douglas causing an upset (42 to 1 underdog) in KO the invincible Mike Tyson.

Between fighting reptilians, trying to advise Povetkin on training, being robbed twice of the WBA heavyweight title, nearly killing Bergeron and making Teen Wolf 3...I'd say SNV would be THE premier subject.

Right, your gonna think im kidding here but AUDLEY HARRISON. The man had a bad upbringing, was in a young offenders institute, was a street fighter (so he says) then went on to University and won an Olympic gold. If he beats haye (i know i know) this movie WILL be made and Audley will probably want to play himself :yep

I'll admit I don't know too much about Audley's background, but we have to remember if it is a big budget film, the boxer needn't be the most famous person around as long as there's an interesting story to tell. Denzel Washington played Rubin Carter in the movie The Hurricane and he isn't Sugar Ray Leonard famous.

Gatti and Edison Miranda both have compelling stories.

Kassim Ouma would have been my first choice but I gather one has already been made about him - haven't seen it yet though.

A proper Mike Tyson movie would be good. DLH and Pacquiao could be interesting.

James Douglas would be a good choice. He grew up around boxing. His dad was a decent pro who fought internationally. Buster grew up, became a fighter, upset Tyson, then squandered his riches and became what? Maybe end it with the upset, or with him losing the belt shortly after and having a monologue ending...

Pac Man would be a good choice. From the dirty streets fighting for grocery money for his mom to becoming a congressman. That's pretty awesome. Bernard Hopkins, ex con to HOF fighter...another good story.

Enzo and Joe Calzaghe could be a good one.

Vinnie Curto '70's/80's contender. A movie on his life called Out On My Feet was being made with Mark Wahlberg as Vinnie and DeNiro as Angelo Dundee until it fl apart two days before production. Curto's life story of abused childhood by sadistic father, through his life in the mob - coming up with Hagler, in the Navy at 15, homeless, bodyguard of Carlos Leydar (head of the Columbian cartel), getting out of a jam with help from Frank Sinatra, managed by Sylvester Stallone, living at Mustang Ranch whorehouse where they owned his contract, etc, etc. The movie would be an Oscar winner

Roberto Duran, if either of the Peterson brothers have success one on them would be good, Hopkins, Nate Campbell.

Wasn't Duran's party trick jerking off his pet tiger or lion or summat?
