I used to love Clint Eastwood movies when I was growing up and in my teens. I still do although I can't remember the last time I saw one of his. I haven't seen many of the ones he's directed post 1980s but I did see that Gran Torino. Some of the acting and the lines were abysmal. The actor who played the part of his young neighbour (been quite a while since I've seen it but I think the character was meant to be Hmong) really couldn't act to save his life. :patsch:lol:

Not sure why its shocking to you Frankin, Russell used John Carpenter as a way to break the image everyone had of him as a Disney child star, Kurt has always had a soft spot for genre films.

The Searchers is the best western ever made IMO and in the opinion of many critics. Magnificent Seven and Good Bad and Ugly up there as well. Ox Bow Incident, Red River, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven great also.

Hey I'm no babe in the woods but I draw the line at cannabalism.

Escape From NY certainly changed direction of Russell's career, as did Big Trouble in Little China.

I forgot El Topo....my favorite non US movie...and can't believe I didn't mention The Wild Bunch...which has violence galore but artfully done with a purpose.

Unfortunately I haven't. I've seen Cannibal Holocause, Cannibal Ferox, Deep River Savages, Mountain Of The Cannibal God, Jungle Holocaust and I don't really know why, since I don't even enjoy them. I tend to be a completest when it comes to film and they were Italian Horror films so I felt compelled yet I regretted watching them all.

Jodorowsky is weird as hell almost too weird for me, but I like El Topo.

Sad to say but it's more fun and interesting to discuss movies than "Ward stinks" or "GGG is all hype".

I loved Gran Torino (but agree with your criticisms), there's a few of Clint's movies that get lost in the shuffle that I love The Beguiled, The Gauntlet, Where Eagles Dare and Play Misty For Me.... they deserve far more credit than they get.
