This thread is far more worthwhile than many of them and unfortunately this will be deleted in all likelihood
Yeah I have and it is good. I like a lot of his films, especially many of the ones he did in the 60s through to the 80s as they're the ones I grew up on. I love most of his westerns but I also have a soft spot for some of his not so famous films he did back then too (not directed just starred in). The Beguiled and Coogan's Bluff being two of them that spring to mind. The later isn't all that but I enjoyed watching it back then. He's done so many others I like too though.
I didn't see this before I wrote my last post as I was over on IMDB looking through his filmography mid post trying to refresh my memory. I love The Beguiled and Play Misty For Me. Where Eagles Dare is great too. I've seen The Gauntlet but I remember very little about it.
Great minds think alike. I love Coogan's Bluff too. Nice early 70's NY atmosphere, another film of his that's really good but sleazy as hell is Tightrope that he did with Genevieve Bujold :love And The Eiger Sanction as well. The image of the bus being shot up in The Gauntlet has lingered with me since I was a kid I finally saw it again like 5 years ago and it still held up.
I think I enjoyed most of these to varying degrees. Some might not be all that but I was young when I saw them. There are also quite a lot of his post 80s ones I haven't seen and some of his others from then and before I've seen but don't remember. In no order The Good, the Bad and the Ugly A Fistful of Dollars For a Few Dollars More Play Misty for Me The Beguiled Thunderbolt and Lightfoot High Plains Drifter The Outlaw Josey Wales Pale Rider Sudden Impact Heartbreak Ridge Bird Unforgiven Dirty Harry City Heat High Plains Drifter Magnum Force Escape from Alcatraz The Enforcer Kelly's Heroes Two Mules for Sister Sara Paint Your Wagon Million Dollar Baby (did find some of the scenes in this really corny though) Hang 'Em High Gran Torino Coogan's Bluff Where Eagles Dare
Well that explains it then. I think it was only that kid who I recall thinking it about. The script was bad in parts too though and I'm sure whoever wrote that didn't have the excuse of being a total novice. I didn't actually know that about that being the only film he died on screen. I don't even remember that scene to be honest.
Yes Coogan's Bluff is a slightly odd one of his but good. I think it's on Youtube actually. I honestly don't remember hardly anything about Tightrope and The Eiger Sanction as it's been decades since I've seen them. I'm sure I probably enjoyed them when I did see them though
I rank them according to my preferences. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Play Misty for Me The Beguiled For a Few Dollars More Dirty Harry The Gauntlet Coogan's Bluff Where Eagles Dare Magnum Force Tightrope Escape from Alcatraz The Enforcer Kelly's Heroes Two Mules for Sister Sara Gran Torino A Fistful of Dollars Sudden Impact Unforgiven High Plains Drifter Thunderbolt and Lightfoot The Outlaw Josey Wales Hang 'Em High Pale Rider Heartbreak Ridge City Heat Paint Your Wagon Million Dollar Baby
I know the feeling lately. Its getting to the point that I legitimately have forgotten more than some people will ever know.atsch
I'm not even joking I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a movie. It's years not months. atsch
I should have a * next to Josey Wales its been like 20 years since I've seen it, and as far as Fistful of Dollars goes......I love the first half but it peters out towards the end and kind of falls apart and I prefer Yojimbo to it.:conf
