I liked southpaw. I mean it was dramamtic but then again that was the aim. It was entertaining for sure. I would say check it out
Lots of boxing fans got initiated by similar boxing dramas, that at that time sacked for avid boxing fans. This kind of movies are good for boxing & recruiting future fans, just not for the day to day boxing fans
Ever watch any of the Zatoichi flicks? The original ones with This content is protected This content is protected Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo is one that you need to watch. Has To****o Mifune in it as Sassa, the rogue Samurai.
I've seen it and judging it merely as a film (not as a historical reference) it wasn't bad. Denzel's performance is largely responsible for the film's watchability. The surrounding performances were all either average or subpar. This is the first time i've heard/read the film's legitimacy being called into question. What about Rubin Carter's cinematic story is being challenged?
Yeah I can see why boxing fans would think it's ****. But for people who no nothing about boxing or like me ya just take the film for what it is ( down and out, back to the top type film) and not be fussed about the boxing element its actually a pretty dam entertaining film. Obviously been done 100 times but to me it never gets old
Play Misty for me We must agree We are also pleased to see The Beguiled as top three Few Dollars More and Dirty Harry Are our favorites personally We like more than Good, Bad, and Ugly
I'm no expert just remember reading some stuff about it a while back. http://www.graphicwitness.com/carter/moviepoints.html A thread from Classic forum http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=504660
Trailer but the whole film is on Youtube too [YT]erIn_2cVWp4[/YT] The Beguiled is also on Youtube too. I like Escape From Alcatraz too. I've always liked prison movies since I was a young kid for some reason.
Is that the one starring one of the Wayan brothers? If it is, its nothing special. Good film, bit of a comedy from what I remember. Its meant to be based on Tyson Mcneeley i think, but its more reminiscent of Holmes ****ey in my opinion. Decent watch.
Rappers have proven 1000 times that they are incapable of making good movies. The Man with the Golden Arm, All the Boyz In The Hood Part 2000, and those worthless BET movies require a dead brain to sit through them. They should get wise and fund movies but stay out of the acting and production. LOL, even a frog wants to sing, but they shouldn't.
Interesting. Honestly, my mind was made up long ago about Rubin Carter's innocence based on the rampant amount of racism of that time and him being a symbol of the defiant success of the black man which threatened the fabric of the status quo. My mind hasn't changed but new information and alternate perspective is always food for thought. :thumbsup
Needs to be a Raymi biography. Oscars lookout. Key moment will be when he beat Odlanier Solis and broke in the sport and then went on to be 114-2 (114 ko) in ams, then went on to be world flyweight champ
