I am trying to work on my foot work because I am extremely flat footed (as I was told), but i can punch in combination etc etc.. and take punches very well... Anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve my foot work? Training regime.. Exercises.. Equipment I should use.. Any help appreciated!:bbb

I was just about to say that, dancing can help a lot. Jump rope.
But dance can work wonders, something like salsa, tango. Where you ahve to use ya feet a lot, on b on your toes. I use to dance hip-hop, and little salsa, So when i started boxing it was nothin to me, and while involved in other sports, football, basketball, baseball. My footwork got better, I play corner, so footwork g2 b on point.

I would also say play other sports as well, it helps

My advice would be to not imitate the footwork of the guy you based your screenname after.

Make a genuine effort to concentrate on moving your feet whenever you do any kind of bag work. Work at it and you'll get more mobile in time. It comes gradually but before you know it you'll surprise yourself

Maybe you should ask this Q in the training forum.

Jump rope and learn to alternate your feet back and forth like a boxer does when he jumps rope, dont just jump with both feet at one time. This will help you with rhythem and get you up on the balls of your feet, which is important when moving in the ring.

    Buy Jump Soles

When you hit the bag try using it, it would be uncomfortable but it kills your calves and your explosiveness starts off right at the calves. I mean look at manny pacquiao he is evidence right there.

when you train just keep moving don't just stand there bounce around and keep your legs in action. When your in the ring your moving around constantly or else you get killed if you just stand there. So if you get used to moving it will help.

I heard them things arent good for you. COuld b wrong but thats wat i heard. Baron Davis was on the radio saying that as well. That the force of jumpin up and down puts 2 much stress on ya knees or somethin like that. He was goin on about it. But to sum it up he said they arent good 4 u

i wouldn't do anything drastic with them. Just simple things such as just standing hitting the bag nothing serious. Just to get the calves ripping them. Obviously too much of them would be bad because they really work you. Anyone should know their own limits and should know when they are pushing it to hard.

No, just his hook I imitate... LOL:lol:

Thanks for all the replys.. I actually used the technique with the cross\tape tonight (an hour earlier) and that worked well. I was sparring a south paw today and he even relized a difference, He was kind of shook!:good
