Hello ! I'm soon finish with my beginner-boxing leassons and will advance my training at the gym i'm training at so i whant to use my own equipment. But i need some advice in this jungle of all gears that is available. Bag gloves (size), sparring gloves (oz), mouthguard (single/double), hand wraps (length), headgear, shoes, brands, and so on. Thanks for help. Regards / R
Thanks ! I'v been starting looking for what kind of bag gloves i will buy. I'v read that Rival and Title are good brands. Any recomendation ?
When it comes to shoes i have been searched on Adidas, they have some intresting shoes. (Tygun 1&2, Hog Boots, 2000 and so on). Any you can recomend ?
How big are you and how good (soft) are your gym's bags? 10oz gloves are pretty small. Personally I prefer to train in 16oz bag gloves. Less cushion isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I would go heavier on the bag gloves. If you bruise a knuckle you won't be working out for a while. I use 14oz Ringside Super Bag Gloves. Agree, 16oz sparring gloves. I use Everlast now but am looking at Rival. If you are going to spar a lot, go to your dentist and get a custom single mouth guard made. Should be $50-$80 but is the best protection. Also, if you try to talk with a double in you sound like an idiot. 180 mexican (elastic) wraps. Agreed. Can't have too much hand protection. I don't compete so I don't have boxing shoes. Other guys here can help with a suggestion, I'm sure. That's the general consensus. Yes. Work it into your routine. Skip for a few rounds. :good
I use heavier bag gloves as well (14oz). but as a newbie i thought it might be easier to start w/ 10oz and move up as you see fit

ironic thread, i just bought my first sparring gear as i have a guy in my class whos a kickboxer and is willing to spar with me. ive had rival rb20's in 10oz for about a year and a half now. awesome gloves, theyve held up well. i bought my first set of sparring gear this week. i got the rival mexican style headgear in a couple days ago. also got in some mexican style 180" rival wraps, i was using cotton 150's before. and a good new mouthguard off rivals site for only 10 bucks. and i placed an order for some 16oz title hook and loop all leather training gloves, and a cheap title groin protector. nothing too fancy, pretty cheap but good quality gear. and i agree with the guy who said rival has great customer service, Julia is awesome. super nice
Thanks for all great answers The first thing that i bought weeks ago was a speed jump rope Now i have bought Mec. Hand wrap 180, Adidas Champ Speed II boxing boots and a double mouthguard from BrainPad (3XS). I'm now try to decide a pair of bag gloves, it will be either Rivals Elite or RB50 (D30) bag gloves. (Answer on question above: I'm (Swedish messure haha) 80kg heavy and 182cm long, have been competing in bodybuilding for 3years ago so see myself as quite good trained hehe. Regards/Robin
if you're a beginner i wouldnt spend all the money to get rivals d3o's, entirely up to you tho. but id go with the rb20's
