I haven't seen anybody else do a post like this, but i have been noticing that mainstream sports media (basically, ESPN) has been showing a bit more Boxing coverage.

(Now, let me make this clear, this isn't about Boxing getting "revived" or some bull**** like that. Boxing is still in tip-top shape, the only thing missing has been mainstream media coverage. I can go on all day about how Boxing is/wasn't dying, and what not)

On April 3rd, David Haye made the "top 10 list" with his beat down of John Ruiz, also, same night they showed some highlights of the Hopkins-Jones Jr. fight and the anchors made it out to be some kind of war. On April 17th they showed the Pavlik-Martinez fight highlights, and Bute made the "top 10 list" with his KO of Miranda. And then today Sergio Martinez was on ESPN. This is all not including Mayweather or Pacquiao, and even going back to last year they showed a ton of weighins, including Ward-Kessler, Klitschko-Arreola, Pacquiao-Hatton, Pacquiao-Cotto, Mayweather-Marquez, and Marquez-Diaz. Not to mention highlights of these fights above that I mentioned, and more. Also, while listening to the Dodgers game I heard a commercial about something about Friday Night at the Fights, where on Friday they talk Boxing. I've never heard of it, but will check it out. So, with all this being said, just based on what I have observed these last couple of years I think the mainstream media is finally growing a brain and showing a bit more Boxing and talking about it a bit more.

yeah they need to start putting fight analysis on sportscenter instead of rehashing the same crap from a basketball game all day.

Not news, but maybe a sign boxing is becoming more mainstream again: a couple of weeks ago I was buying groceries late and heard three or four guys who were working there talking about Pacquiao, Mosley and Mayweather and who was going to kick whose ass. It's probably the first time I randomly heard people on the street talking boxing since the build up for Holyfield-Tyson II.

I think we should thank Mayweather fellahs. Money May has singehandedly brought boxing back along with cleaning up the sport and giving it respect it deserves again.

    God Bless Money

The only reason people are getting interested in boxing again is because the best is fighting the best.

Did you see Money Mays coat? Goddamn that boy got style. It takes balls of steel to wear a winter coat indoors in california.

Being on ESPN alone doesn't equal mainstream news to me. Get the local news to comment on this **** and now you're talking.

Hopefully, that's the next step, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the one. Local outlets barely talk about sports in general.

  14. Boxing is constantly on my local news... I'm in Las Vegas though so that explains that. But when Wlad KO'd chambers it made the front page of CNN.COM (which surprised me) so there ya go.

  15. Also... TMZ is always showing video of Wlad out with Hayden Panetierre or reading boxing magazines at the news stand.
