Ring Kings: Mayweather vs. Cotto just got a 30 second spot on TNT during halftime of a nationally televised NBA game. (marquee match-up, possible later-round playoffs preview...) :good

So, I guess HBO and TNT are sister networks, I take it? :huh

If that's the case....why don't they throw that boxing show with Jim Lampley on TNT? It makes better sense, rather than on HBO at midnight. Or just any sort of show that is related to boxing. Hell, one fight between a prospect and a journeyman would suffice.

This was a full commercial, not a plug.

OK, they did actually plug it in-game just now during the second half of the doubleheader:

"7 time world champ Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. has never tasted defeat. Power punching Miguel Cotto wears the super welterweight crown. May 5th these two boxing kings collide.

    ...MAYWEATHER!

    ...COTTO!!

    May 5...only on PPV!
    "

In this edition of the magazine, Rolling Stone, (or at least I think it's this edition, I don't know the one with Obama on the cover), has a Floyd Mayweather story in it.

Pacquiao is pretty much what most fans like. He's humble, exciting, great and active. I'm glad to see Pacquiao in the top 5.

Not sure how great an example either is, but:

    • NBC Sports ran a 30 second spot for its upcoming Fight Night (Gabriel Rosado vs. Sechew Powell during a 2nd round NBA Playoff game last week.

    • Showtime just plugged their upcoming Showtime Championship Boxing card featuring Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin on tonight's big MMA show, Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier...which is their biggest hyped event of the year and likely drawing in huge viewing numbers.

I hate to admit it, but MMA is marketed much better than boxing these days - so a plug like that actually does count as significant charity for the latter sport. :verysad
