The padding in gloves can break down over time, which can lead to a 'firmer' impact. This is especially common where people use the same gloves for bag work and sparring. If you are sparring with someone, make sure you, or another competent person checks both pairs of gloves, ensuring that the padding is sufficient in them.
Im wondering the motive behind the question. I use my old gloves for bag work, I would never try to get an "edge" on someone by using broken down gloves.
Same, its strange how i would use them on the bags once they were ****ed and strangely, felt lighter though they cant be. :huh
It depends. Some gloves start out soft, and as they age the padding gets compacted making them harder, or atleast feel like they hit harder because there isn't as much padding absorbing the impact of the punch. Other gloves start out firm and then as they age get softer so they don't feel like they are hitting as hard because you don't feel the impact as much. Difficult to explain, hope you understand.
Think mine are the latter, my lonsdale 16oz used to feel like bricks ( mainly on my own hands ) but now the have softend up a bit they are much more comfortable to hit with . Obviously havnt tried punching myself in the head yet so not sure what they feel like to get hit by :yep
