Which boxing gloves would you reccomend?

And do you need different ones for hitting bags and for sparring or is just one type of glove sufficient?

Everyone always recommends you have more than one glove for hitting the bag and sparring. But to be honest you dont really need it, not at my gym anyway. I have those $30 everlast gloves and they are perfect for me and i use them for everything: padwork, heavy bag, and sparring.

You can use bag gloves for Pad work....I wouldn't use em for sparring though....they're meant to protect your hand during training and are not designed to cushion your opponents face from your fist. Using Bag gloves in sparring=broken noses

the whole point of buying too pairs is so you dont break down the padding in your sparring gloves using them on heavy bag then crack your gym mates with it.

Your bag will wreck your gloves so its up to you. You will just not get the life out of the gloves if you use them on the bag.
I have mits for bag and have had them for 13 years and never been replaced. Theyre like new (madison).

Protecting your wrists and hands is in your wraps not gloves. use two sets of wraps. Look up correct wrapping technique online. use the first layer for through your fingers and general protection of wrists. second layer figure 8 across knuckles and wrists to provide very strong wrist support & knuckle protection.

I would suggest Ringside IMF Techs. They are amazing quality for the price. I have watched my buddies buy and retire Everlasts and my IMFs didn't even start looking worn. The hook and loop closure system is the best available too. Mine are 9 months strong with ZERO padding issues and only SLIGHTLY ripped liners. At their current price? They are a steal. Planning on doubling up on bag gloves soon.

Two pairs? I do. You should. Bags can get gross. Sparring your gloves can rip skin, go into eyes, the mouth, etc... So sanitary gloves are best with this MRSA ish going around. But you should be wiping your equipment down anyway. So you could get away with it.

I never understood buying these gloves for sparring. Why? They are purposely packed hard and unforgiving. Unless you have "guest" sparring partners, what would be the point of shredding your fellow gym buddies' faces? What do you guys spar to "win"?

"I hit so hard in sparring I beat everyone!"

    "You still spar?"

"No. Nobody comes to my gym any more."

    "Really? I wonder why..."

Exactly, they no longer allow us to spar with Reyes gloves at our gym after one of our top fighters bust anothers face open, he had just payed about £150 for them too. Ideally all gyms should stock some kind of "safe spar" gloves that are only used for sparring so that the padding isn't broken down. My old gym used to do this, they used the ergo safe spars which were excellent. The gym I'm at currently stock their own specially made gloves and sell them for just £15 which I have in 16 oz and use for everything but they are a little hard, they hurt more than amateur contest gloves.
