And Emmanuel Steward pointed it out last night. Good fighters who are unwilling or unable to step on the gas and knock the other guy out. So many good fighters who aren't terribly exciting because they either lack the pop or the fierceness to actively go for the knockout. I can excuse guys like Ward and Bradley, they go for KO's but don't have the power to get them. But Dawson, and even Floyd at times? They never seem to take it off cruise control, and it cost Dawson a fight last night.. Compare that to the heyday of the Four Kings- when they saw an opponent hurt or vulnerable, they went out and tried to FINISH him..
no finishing ability, no killer instinct, no hunger too easy to get paid, too easy to get a paper strap, at too many weights :deal
When Dawson was active and aggressive he hurt Pascal, he almost had Pascal down in the 11th but he stopped punching and allowed him to recover, and get back into the fight before the head clash. Dawson seemed to give away a lot of the rounds just by being less active than Pascal.
Yea but thats not what the judges were looking at. Pascals was throwing flurries that were creating excitement although half his punches may not have landed. Dawson had the space to box and keep moving yet he didnt.
How did you come up with that conclusion... So you're saying anybody who did box before is or should be afraid to engage?!? :huh If that's the conclusion then boxing really has a huge problem!!! And a recent poll showed that the big majority of the posters here box(ed) or do/did any other contactsport (like kickboxing, karate, mma etc.) on different levels.
Yes I did. A conversation that should of happened in training rather than before the 12th round of a fight.
stfu, what does this thread have to do with then? This thread is about boxing lacking finishers. That right there, is a vicious finisher, hence why his popularity.
I am quite sure this occurs regularly, but Manny has to be tactical about it. Manny definitely believes it, my god did u see him in the Tyson fight with lennox, he almost had a heart attack in there. **Oh and I agree we seem to have less vicious fighters out there now.
