Fighters actually got ducked/avoided more back when there was only two titles (and usually the same guy held both of them). One of the few good things about the alphabet madness is that having a belt is like a marketing tool that can help the high risk/low reward fighters out. There's more titles out there so they're bound to get one. I don't know if HBO puts up the money for unification bouts with Shane against Forrest and Winky if the latter two don't have belts. Mostly everything else about the alphabet crap sucks, but that it is one of the very few (maybe the only) positive point.
WBC WBC interim WBC emeritus WBA regular WBA Super WBA interim WBO WBO interim IBF IBF interim no....i dont see the problem here :rofl .....and people wonder why they have so many multiple weight champions these days... ducking at an all time high.....fight the belt holder who poses the least trouble :-(
a suggestion would be official tiers to all existing titles. that way you know what is a journeymans title, which is for a gatekeeper and which for number 2/3.
Too many divisions too. What's the point of having a division every 4 pounds in the lower weight. Why not make it 2 pounds to make more money?
Like Lamont Peterson holding that fake ass belt. tsk tsk Or Quillin/GGG having a belt when we all know the last Undisputed Middleweight Champ was B-Hop then Taylor and then Pavlik and then Martinez beats Pavlik. Quillin/GGG are talented but they're not the middleweight champ.
