It's a cure for insomnia, very boring fight although it was funny any time a punch was actually thrown the crowd went insane. Probably to help keep themselves from falling asleep. Young looking like he wanted to dive out of the ring through the ropes was quite cringeworthy.

 

Norton landed the only good shots of the round. Ali didn't land anything meaningful. It doesn't matter if he was "fighting for the entire round" - irrelevant. With all due respect, Magna, but I suspect if this character's name wasn't Muhammad Ali, there's no way you would be inclined to score that round for him.

 

Richard Steele Didn't rob Meldrick Taylor of a historic victory when he stopped the first Chavez/Taylor fight with :02 left in the fight. First of all he had no idea of the exact time left. The famous red lights only told him that there were :10 or less left. Concivabily enough time for Julio Cesar Chavez to get to him and do some real long term damage. Steele had to make a judgment call in split seconds time. Also Taylor's cornor gave him bad advise and had him try to win the round. I'm symppthitc to Taylor, and would like to think that if was in Steele's shoes. I would have made the other decision, but considering the circimstances. It's not fair to blame him.

 

I've watched it some 5 times today. Scored it Ali's every time. "Meaningful" is incredibly subjective. I don't JUST go by "That looked like that may have hurt".

1 big right does not neutralize 5 good jabs for me. I score bouts the way I would ask them to be scored if I was fighting- Win or lose, give it to the guy landing, the guy doing the good boxing, the guy giving the most effort, and the guy landing the best shots. Punches, defense, effective aggression, ring control. Norton winning the back thirty does not negate him losing the first 2:30 on those three categories, but I can admit its a competitive, close round.

why didnt Foreman face Bowe, Lewis or Holmes?

Holmes literally begged foreman for a fight and continues to diss him to this day

 

Holmes would have outboxed so much more than Tommy did, the ref would probably have to stop it because both Foremans eyes would be closed from constant jabbing.
