Because of all of this asinine obstinacy.

Well I think you look like Rod Hull's Emu, but you don't see me rolling my eyes.

I see. Not sure how you painted that picture, but whatever floats your boat.

Don't fall for the fairytale, Hagler was 32 vs Leonard, Leonard 34 vs Norris. 2 years can be a long time, or not.

The Leonard placing was the most surprising I'd say (along with the Burley one). :huh

I think this is a brilliant list, one of the best i've seen. I thin that Duran, Leonard and Wilde are all to high, but the only list you ever really think is right is your own.

Actually, I don't, I don't disagree. The argument for having Burley that high is weak. Although my opinion is that Burley is one of the best that ever laced them up, he didn't get to prove it. He never proved it.

What I will say is this - Burley was WW and that he became probably the most feared and ducked MW in the history of the sport speaks volumes about his quality. He was also ducked by some of the greatest fighters ever (proven) including Robinson and Armstrong. I think it was Armstrong's peole who steered him away from Burley (and frimly towards Zivic) rather than the man himself, but there you have it. There were two great welters from Pittsburgh, and Zivic got the shot, although Burley had beaten him twice (and lost once in a hotly disputed decision).

Men who saw both Burley and Robinson fight were absolutley split over who would win that fight.

Notables who saw/fought with Burley, always speak about him as one of the greats of that era at the very least, and many describe him as being anongst the best of all time. Men like Futch and Moore have him at #2 and #1 respectively.

Overall though, the argument for having him lower is stronger.
