What is the major difference between going to learn boxing in a boxing gym v/s some fitness boxing class ? The coach (es) can't give their time to each individual especially if there are many training ... Thank you.
You don't get hit and you don't learn true fundamental boxing in a fitness center class. If you're looking to get fit, release some stress, and use some other cardio, free weight, or machine equipment for overall fitness and feeling good, that's the perfect place to do it. If you want to learn real self-defense, learn the fundamentals, and compete, a boxing gym is the place for you. Remember that not all boxing gyms and trainers are created equal though. I've seen a lot of so-called trainers that flat-out suck.
Thanks for your responses, I have been taking fitness boxing for a while now and learning from videos and forum posts here. But I want to keep on learning the art and sometimes wonder how it would be to actually go to a boxing gym and leave this fitness boxing thing. More responses to encourage welcome, thank you.
I've never done Fitness Boxing but I'd imagine they don't place a large importance on not getting hit.
I think as much as that one on one time with a fitness coach may be nice, being in a room full of other hungry hardworking boxers can only be good for a persons motivation and desire to improve.
I did fitness boxing for some time. Its good way to get in some shape before going to competive boxing. I also sparred quite alot with some 50+ ex boxers but Im not sure if that is norm in other fitness boxing classes.
the people you will "spar" with in fitness boxing (spar means punching eachothers gloves) are nothing compared to the boxers and real sparring you will do at a boxing gym
This pretty much sums it up. I was going to go in to a detailed response for the threadstarter, but this will do.
