It's no secret that boxing is slowly dying in America, but i actually don't think it is in Europe. I mean boxing in Germany and the UK is huge. In Denmark it's defiantly on the rise, so i don't know about other countries in Europe

  2. I'm from the UK. Boxing is dying. Amir Khan not talked about much in our news stations or general media. Haye is the only talked about boxer and a lot of it is for negative reasons.

Froch is relatively unknown, Kell Brook who? Cleverly even less so. Shame...

While big fights continue to underwhelm and shocking decisions and politics rule boxing it aint going to be a mainstay sport for some time.

I wouldn't say it is that popular in the UK, the main broadcaster is Boxnation which is a specialist boxing channel, Boxing is definitely not mainstream in the UK and the top fighters are not that famous in celebrity terms and making nowhere near £millions

the sad part of it all....under the current rules...boxing was born in the uk but u guys really don't have any top notch fighters. the best has always been in america. the former soviet bloc has plenty of talent...but the uk is far from taking anything over.

Boxing is dying in the US due to several factors, one is a lack of boxing gyms because land is being converted into building houses, that leaves many people not exposed to boxing. Two the economy is really bad. Three, the entertainment industry isn't giving enough coverage to boxing, of course the entertainment industry is dying because of the internet. Also the public school system is another factor, some people just don't have the time to participate in boxing while trying to keep their grades up.

This is happening not just in the U.S but all across the world.

It's not dying but it's not as popular as before. People get this idea that NBA and NFL are paid a lot more, so that's why boxing is slowly losing mainstream appeal, and that is simply not true. The lack of boxing gyms and the financial crisis are the two major reasons why boxing is not popular as it should be.

To anyone that thinks BOXING is not dying in the US. Maybe you should wake the **** up.

    Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson.
in the early 2000's had NBC, ABC, Espn, every sports radio, every sports column talking for weeks.

Floyd vs Cotto had a 1 page column on page 5 of the LA Times
The only talked about fights for the main stream public is robberies. You judge if a sport is strong or weak by THE MAIN STREAM PUBLIC. Not by ******ed obsessive fans on websites.

Will you mother****ers keep the dying **** to one thread already. Compare USA boxing from 2005 to today. Same dam thing. It has declined and stagnated at worst, it's not going anywhere.

But compare it from 1999 to today. It definitely got less popular.

Boxing in the UK and across Western Europe hass been in decline since the early 90s.

The move form publicly broadcast TV to private satellite channels combined with the rise of European left wing nut jobs in political office has pushed it into the realm of only the dedicated fan/participnt.

Seems to me it's the same aside from the HW division. Pac and Mayweather are out selling DLH and Trinidad. By 1999 everything was already on premium cable and PPV, so it was already niche. In fact you can find many people whining about this very same topic back then too.
