when I think of boxing, the countries that stick out are Puerto Rico, Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela, Philippines, US, England, Thailand, Germany, Russia, Poland, Cuba, Argentina, Ghana, Japan and many more tucked in my memory that I cant pull out at the moment. However China doesnt seem to ring a bell. They could have a wushu or kungfu champion but boxing is a different story....I really cant think of a succesful Chinese world champion in today's boxing landscape. If there is one however, then I stand corrected...just stating my honest opinion.....
The tide seems to be shifting (if it hasn’t already shifted) to other parts of the world now. The US and GB aren’t the main producers anymore. The Latin countries are still strong, but the underprivileged, desperate kids are mainly coming from Eastern Europe and Asia now. Will be interesting to see what the boxing landscape will be in 20-30 years time.
what LOL? Banned or not they still boxed It's not new at all Funny though isn't it. They have all this chinese gung fu bullsh*t which is mean't to good for hand to hand combat then somebody dies in a boxing match and they sh*t themselves saying it's a dangerous. Martial arts is full of gimmicky crap.
When Chinese goverment decides they want olympic medals also from boxing the tide will turn. They are going to make some sick program that produces top boxers like its a factory.
I'm just saying this is probably why there's probably no more than 50 Chinese pros in the game currently. and most all have just a couple fights. http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?country=CN&sex=m&division=P4P&status=A&SUBMIT=Go&pageID=1
I think they will find a way to win and stay relevant in the AM's so China looks good, but not the pros. Like if China backed AM boxing like they do gymnastics and powerlifting they could build a strong team.
