I boxed as an amateur as did my brother, my cousin, my dad and 4 of uncles. My grandad was a boxer too and a body builder.
Me and my brother and cousin also hold blackbelts in Kickboxing.
I aslo studied kung fu and am currently training in Muay Thai for a fight in December

My father was 20-0 or so on the Marine Corps boxing team, too big and strong for his weight, left handed and hard hitting. He was an alternate for the olympics in his real sport, wrestling, and went to Cornell on a wrestling scholarship before he got kicked out.

He tells a story of fighting the light heavyweight percy pearce or something like that, a guy who fought Cassius Clay in the Olympic trials. Dad says the guy held him up against the ropes and bombed on him (at the time my dad was only 5'7'', 125 lbs or so). My dad got pissed and later threw something at his head as he was coming into the barracks and beat him up with his wrestling/hitting style.

I fought at Notre Dame but was always more vulnerable to cuts and sloppier than my Dad. I think the edge in speed goes to me (then again, my father was 38 when I was born so maybe at 20 -30 he was just as fast as me) but the power, durability, and sound defense goes to him. Right now I'm 5'8'', 130 lbs but I can't see myself ever beating a prime version of my dad. We have the same bone condition, making us very large for the weight.
