Boxing doesnt have a business without the fans. Are you actually this stupid or were you paid to write that?
I agree with the OP, however it just shows what a backwards sport boxing is at times. Organisations should be mandating most fights, can you imagine the World Cup final if Argentina had said "nah Germany look a bit good this year, let's play China instead because they are offering us loads of money". That's what is going on in boxing all the time. I think that promoters are generally thinking of their profits in the short-medium term i.e. the next couple of fights or next few years of their fighters' careers. Through making better fights, even if they don't have the best reward/risk available, more fans can be encouraged into boxing resulting in more money for everyone. Because at the moment, I don't see boxing growing much as a sport.
manny, ran away as confirmed by the mediator, freddie, ariza, 99 excuses after floyd accepted his every demand including that pathetic non commission 10 million dollar per pound weight penalty!!
I don't think they do. That's why they tend not to be interested in the likes of Ward, Rigondeaux, Lara, Vazquez etc, good as they are, because they are involved in horrible snooze fests that's not entertaining in the slightest, nor do they have the kind of personality and mainstream recognition that sell fights (unlike Mayweather). Hence, viewers tune out of their fights- boxing makes more money from TV revenue than anything else and TV is a ratings business.
People accuse modern fighters of only wanting money. The fact is, boxing has ALWAYS been about making money. A lot of the best fighters ever grew up poor, and took up boxing to make money.
And fights involving the likes of Rigo, Ward, Lara, etc are often classed as 'entertaining' are they? :think
Apologists for the negative aspects of boxing politics are a major part of the problem. As long as there are people justifying this crap it will flourish.
boxing is a business first, sport 2nd. even though floyd has a hard time reading, he is actually right, businesswise, with the duckin' and dodgin'.
Maybe to you, but in the age of internet pornography will any casual fan want to watch Rigo run around the ring?
he was pretty much centre ring against the p4p number two at the time , backing him up and absolutley schooling him you must of seen a different fight from me :verysad:blood
