Ok that’s an assumption from me but I reckon it will be in the region of that.

Hearn was a little desperate; so sure he might have had less leverage in terms of negotiating a paltry sum for the fill in. Still dont think it sets him up in any way, shape or form.

To do realise what it means to fail as a pro boxer? Its not like football where beeing a pro doesnt work out and the only thing you lost is a big amount of time, if you fail as a boxer you are left with permanent brain damage and no money at all. I hope that your childreen are not forced to box. I have seen 100 of fathers that tried to compensate their failure in life by forcing their childreen to box. Those people are the biggest low lifes on the planet.

I wonder how much body fat Andy Ruiz can convert $5 million into.
That's a lot of Burritos and cheese

Boxing is harder than you think. Plenty of tall kids go to the Boxing gyms but the basics like parrying and getting a sense of distance is just not there with some people. Most of these guys you see on TV have been fighting and getting punched in the head constantly for over a decade. Boxing isn't for everyone.

Exactly , and some things you cannot teach either , a good chin cannot be taught , fighting spirit cannot be taught either . It's the same between soldiers and conscripts .

In regards to the OP - does this not give us a little lore food for thought, when people are saying things like “Joshua needs to fight so-and-so, or Joshua needs to give so-and-so X percent and not a flat fee etc etc”.

Truth is, getting to box that guy is like winning the lottery, win or lose. So Joshua and his promoter are essentially paying for someone’s retirement.

Yeah the boxing politics is bull**** and the Wild West sometimes - but realistically you can see why a team with the phenomenal pull to be able to pay any opponent millions don’t want to be dictated to when they are making someone a millionaire overnight

Wild sport and business for sure.

This is ridiculous. Anyone starting boxing at 17 or 18 yeats old that becomes even a journeyman is beyond impressive. 5 years isn't anywhere long enough to hone the craft unless that person is a ****ing savant.

It's a smaller percentage but it happens. Am fights can be the big difference or access to great coaches/sparring.

Boxing is crazy though, gotta have the fundamentals & A level. Just like we saw Donaire KO, they gotta be imbedded from AM or sparring

Exactly, but the % of the population that can just pick up the sport that late and develop into a very good fighter is probably about .001% of the population. It is VERY rare. You only hear about the guys that have done it, you never hear about the countless numbers that have tried and couldnt do it. The movements and all around complexities of the sport, both physical and mental are immense. Someone truly has to be a savant to pick it up that late and just do it. We are talking Good Will Hunting type ****. AJ and Spence are two that come to mind that picked it up mid-teens and have gotten to the highest level. Unbelievably impressive. Ive personally seen countless top notch athletes turn to boxing late and couldnt develop and progress past novice class in the amateurs.
