Not many boxing fan in denmark atm and with kessler out its hard we dont really got a new star atm..

Only thing the danish fans got is a comeback fight with the old fat Brian Nielsen so no wonder that boxing is going under in denmark

the thing is, i cant stand talking to people at boxing because of the bull**** they say, it gets to the point where it annoys me.

i went watching haye-harrison the other week, and someone in the crowd sat behind me said "i think he'll fight hatton next"

There are very few people I meet who know there stuff. One of the doormen at my friends bar is very good and knows more than me.My mate coxy is also good but to be honest if I wanted a serious chat about boxing its talk to those 2 or come on here.I dont mind though. It only annoys me when you here people talk utter **** about the sport"Calzaghe showed that Jones how to go on"etc. Most annoying though are question masters on pub quiz night who know **** all."What division follows light heavy"answer cruiserweight! Not on that quiz!"Heavyweight obviously"he bellowed.Complete ****!

A few years ago a old Estonian retired boxer (amateur) said that people used to say "Hey, you allowed/have a Russian on your team" three years later it was "Hey, you have a Estonian on your team" None of my friends know about boxing, only the guys in the gym and some have no clue about the sport.
Everybody knows Mike Tyson! They might not know if his retired, what he achieved, who he fought or what weight class he was in but they know him! All know what a badass he is!!!!!

I think for the most part it is, but not so much when your talking about the superstars like Pacman.

Agreed. Some people know about him, his last fight at the scottrade got a ton of attendance, and he's been featured in the NYT and post quite a bit, but he's not really that well known or regarded.

I was talking to a guy the other day and he said he watches boxing and I got momentarily excited.

Then he didn't know who Manny Pacquiao was...

i agree with people saying about the superstars, people know bits about them. its just the rest of the sport.

with football, im a leeds fan, but i still know berbatov banged 5 goals in today. with boxing people seem to follow boxers more than the sport

Try living in Canada. I used to work at a call center here that took calls from Americans and those were the best boxing conversations I've had. I've never met one person outside of my family who has a clue about what's going on in boxing. Canada is UFC crazy though, everybody I know is a big UFC meathead...every bar plays UFC fights (none in my city play boxing) and they're packed to full capcity and then some every UFC card. In Canada boxing gets NO media coverage at all, not even Pacquiao or Mayweather. You'll never see boxing highlights on our sports channels

How many times have you heard people call Pacquiao a Mexican. I've heard 3 times already people say, hey didn't those two mexican guys fight 2 weeks ago. The small one vs the tall guy

The upside to boxing being a niche sport is that I can say whatever I want to my mates about my favourite fighters and they will believe me
