    It has been like that from day one.

    Indeed it could be argued when it was probably most popular (the 1950's), it was arguably most corrupt. Yet today, when it is arguably as unpopular as it has been in a Century, it is also believe it or not as clean as it has been ever.

    So you could conclude that corruption makes the sport more popular, not less...
