Lst night boxing got it shot in the arm mosley ko'd margocheato in 9

20,000 plus fans showed up and went home happy(or crying for the margo fans)

We found out that MMA paid Boxings biggest draw 5 milliom buck to go to the MMA event .

then Larry Merchant states that how much they would have to pay him to go to one of those things. and the HBO team laughs

I agree that the fight was good for boxing, but cheating is not. Now, Margo's entire career is in question. That is not good for boxing.

The product has to be fair.

I was there and it was a pro margarito crowd. As far as the hand wrap situation, we still don't have the facts. It could've easily been a tactic to distract Margo. Lets hope he wasn't attempting to cheat, cause as a mexican and boxing fan that I am, it would really embarras me and give the sport a bad rep. Just imagine Dana White being asked what he thought about the 20 thousand plus showing up for a boxing event, he would then respond by saying how boxing is corrupt and **** of that matter.

I'm a huge MMA fan but boxing has never even come close to dieing.

We've already had two cracking fight's this year with Mosley vs Margarito and Berto vs Collazo, and there are **** loads of great fight's to come.

Oh and by the way, the reason there was 20 thousand plus last night is because of margarito. So all the Marg haters who are celebrating the beat down he received need to show some respect, because his style attracts many people. Mosley and De la hoya couldn't pull that many people to the staple center yet marg did, so show a little respect for a man that is willing to die in the ring before giving a bad fight to the fans!

i totally respected margo before. but now, as pointed out, his entire career is in question. how long has he been using souped up hand wrapping? until we are given a definitive answer of what was up with the hand wraps, then my respect for margo is, well, on hold.

but year. glorius day for boxing. i was so happy that i couldn't get into the threads here at esb because they were flooded right after the ko.

Boxing is far from dead. Internationally, it is one of the biggest sports out there. And it is picking up some steam in the US. The reason the mainstream public thinks boxing is dead is simply because ESPN (especially Sportscenter, which is mainly what the average sports fan watches) doesn't cover the sport. Last night was a great example of a fight, and a controversy, that could have lead off Sportscenter. Did it? Of course not. And for anyone out there that thinks ESPN doesn't have a huge effect on the mainstream American public, answer me this, how many times did you play Texas Hold 'Em before 2003?
