Bowe is in bad shape. Seem's like there is big different between fighters how their brain's can take punches. So sad...

He actually sounds better than he did immediately after his retirement.

He may slur a little but he's far better off than a lot of retired fighters. Go listen to Bobby Chacon...Matthew Saad Muhammad, Tommy Hearns and of course Meldrick just to name a few.

Fortunately this does not happen to every fighter. Fighters like JCC who fought alot more fight are not as messed up. I don't understand why. Maybe not having an amateur career stopped some head shots but 100 pro fights has to mean alot.

I say its a genetic thing. A lack of amateur career means little when u have 100 pro fights with 8oz gloves. Some brain/skull structures are more durable and able to withstand repeated blows. Also different areas can be affected by brain damage. The most commonly affected brain pattern from boxing is speech but not all people suffer that one. Their memory or emotions may be dysfunctional.

But regardless JCC doesn't sound all that crisp. You can hear in his speech that he had a long career.

Bobby Chacon is the worst IMHO. It's really really bad...although I figure the drugs and rough lifestyle didn't do him any favors either.

Kind of reminds you that there are few if any happy endings in boxing.

Boxing is about the only Sport I can think of that the participants do NOT play. You play soccer, football, baseball, etc., etc..... Not boxing.
