I'd say far from a golden era.

IMO a 'golden era' is where you get bona fide ATGs in the same division, duking it out with each other - the VERY BEST fighting the VERY BEST.

I'd agree with others as whilst we have some potential ATGs, they don't seem to have the dance partners that the previous Golden Eras have had - although to be fair, som of that might change once the dust has settled and we look back.

For argument's sake, let's take the 4 Kings as a canonical example - Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Hagler, undisputably all ATGs, and much of that is how their fights with each other elevated both fighters - win, lose or draw. You only have to look at some of the other fights those guys had on their resume - and even some fights that didn't happen (e.g. Leonard v Pryor!) to see how much of a difference there is in terms of the bar that was set with that Golden era.

This era has had too much 'marinating', fighters (or promoters tbf) protecting their 0, as opposed to daring to be great.

As much as I rate both Beterbiev and Bivol - they should have fought by now, maybe even had a trilogy and elevated each other? Joshua not having fought either Wilder or Fury (regardless of who's to blame) kind of sums of this era IMO.

I think Mayweather with his 'convenient' retirement to avoid Williams, and waiting until after KTFO6 to face Pacman has left an indelible imprint on the modern game, that to be TBE you must not lose, which is a shame.

Are you trolling my guy ? Who in the right mind is ranking Calzaghe above SRR ? let alone "many" as you're claiming.

Calzaghe wouldn't even be in the top 50 let alone above SRR absolutely bizarre take.

Calzaghe is the most overrated fighter on here.
He is lucky he retired before social media was really a thing because his career would have been critiqued to hell.

Calzaghe's resume IS overrated, but similar to Crawford eyetest, Zags was special, and I don't favour many bar RJJJ to beat him at 168, and even then I think Zags swarmer volume style might always have been Roy's kryptonite.Peak v peak, I' d have Roy as obvious favourite, but wouldn't be at all surprised if Zags upset the apple cart - very hard style to come up against.

Usyk is definitely an ATG, Inoue possibly too. The rest are NOT ATGs, they're HOF at best.

Calzaghe's greatness is hypothetical while RJJ's is proven

Calzaghe ducked alot in the early 2000s. Go back in the archives on waybackmachine.com and look up how many fights Calzaghe ducked.

RJJ was like 36 years old and BHop went on to be champ again for like literally 10+ years.

Calzaghe gets underrated for...doing the same thing BHop and RJJ did which was fight domestically. BHop and RJJ only started fighting internationally when they were older.
