Im not going to come on and say bull**** like "Boxing is Dead", but I have to say the sport is really on the down side. The mega fight every one wanted to see of course didn't happen. The super six has turned into a joke with fighters getting "injured" left and right. It also seems that every time a big fight in general is coming up one of the guys gets "injured" and it then gets cancelled for another 3 months. ...The heavyweight scene has a huge fight to be made with Wlad-Haye but of course for what ever reason....IT just wont happen. The sport is looking pathetic right now. The top fighters are ducking each other, pulling out, faking injuries and leaving Boxing fans with nothing. The last fight that actually meant anything was Dawson-Pascal. I have been deprived of seeing a good big fight for a few months now, and every time one comes around it gets cancelled for what ever reason. Fighters at the moment seem to care nothing about their legacy and more about where the fight will take place, or how much the purse split will be..... and seem to care nothing about the fact that boxing fans are calling them frauds and cowards. This sport really needs to get it's self back on track. If fighters are not willing to fight then they should be outcasted and the networks should not waste a dime on them or let alone mention their names.
dont worry brother everything will be all right in the next few months we still hav lopez/marquez, froch/abraham, khan, maidana, the bantem tourney, pac/margo, williams/martinez 2, marquez/katsidis, harrison/haye, as well as a host of other decent fights like vasquez/hernandez, judah/matthyse, donaire/sidorenko, soto/antillion, nishioka/munroe, klitschko/briggs, johnson/green, ect ect..... its not that bad
Come back in November and tell me boxing is in bad shape. This is just the calm before the storm, 2010 has been slow but it'll pick up.
agreed. been quiet for the last couple months but i think these fights will tide us over until early 2011 where hopefully we get to see some better more, better fights. really looking forward to a khan/bradley/alexander IF khan gets past maidana. williams martinez and the marquez fights will be great too. wonder what pac will do after margo... good things around the corner, I HOPE! but yes, there is a feeling some great fights have been delayed or will not happen because of some pussies.
THANKS FOR THE LIFT UP..YOUR RIGHT I GUESS IT ISN'T THAT BAD...JUDAH MATTHYSE LOOKS LIKE A SLEEPER:good WILLIAMS MARTINEZ 2 AND PAC TONY SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES...MY FAULT..ISNT A BAD YEAR AT ALL
Thats what im hoping but the way its looking i wouldnt be surprised to see a few more of those November fights cancelled. That would be a huge blow to boxing.
this is where i'm at right now. it could be better. there could be more exposure. but as far as fights go the next couple of weeks will be damn good.
I have to diagree here. Yeah there have been some terrible negotiations but I have hear more about boxing in 2010 than I have in a while. Also, Boxing TV has exploded with shows on HBO, Showtime, Telefutura, Fox Sports, ESPN 2, ESPN, and CSS this was unheard of just a few years ago. At least now people care when the big fight doesn't happen. When De Le Hoya first left I didn't know if Boxing would ever see another star now we have two with Pac and PBF and even have 3 or 4 who could break through. If thier was some way the fix the heavyweight division things would expand even further.
Lets keep our fingers crossed, over the years of following boxing, the month of November is one of the more anticipated one of boxing in a long, long while.:good
I will always be a happy boxing fan. Some fights that should be made are not, that sucks. They will get made. LOVE BOXING REGARDLESS!
