These so called fans that wanna see toe to toe action have no idea what the consequences of their wishes would grant. (Firstly yes I realize the following example is to the utter most extreme of toe to toe, but fights like these are considered to be the epitome of boxing entertainment for these so called fans) If every fight was like George Foreman vs Ron Lyle boxing would become stale, monotonous and every fight would look the same.

In their minds Pacman is a toe to toe fighter, but in reality he jumps in and throws combinations and gets out before they can hit back or atleast tries to come off better in the exchange, he throws a right hook then rolls under, not throws a right hook then takes one in return rinse and repeat.

If boxing was toe to toe, Pac would not be where he is today, fighters like Ward, Floyd, Wlad, Mickey Garcia, Hearns, Whitaker, Ali, even Mares (would not have been able to pull off what he did tonight) and as well any boxer with no punching power would have no place in boxing. Even Alvarado was called chicken/runner by some, I guess if he wants to avoid being called a chicken and have any chance of winning the fight in their third encounter, for his camp he needs to get a 100 or so photos of Rios, put one on a heavy bag and tee off on it till it's tattered into pieces then replace it with another photo.

Boxing the way it is now allows fighters to win using the tools and styles they have to work with to there own advantage, featherfists, movers, counter punchers, big punchers, inside and outside fighters all have a place in boxing, and the real fans want to see these styles clash against each other. There is many things wrong with boxing atm but fighters that don't fight toe to toe is not one of them.
