ESPN2 boxing viewers are usually just a couple of hundred thousand

    UFC 75 makes history!
4.7 Million Viewers Tune In To See First Ever UFC Title Bout On Spike TV
The first ever UFC title fight on Spike TV drew a staggering 4.7 million viewers on Saturday, September 8, making it the most watched UFC event ever and the most watched MMA event ever in North America. The “UFC 75” telecast emanating from the O2 Arena in London, England peaked at 5.6 million for the bout between UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and PRIDE champ Dan Henderson. The fight card drew more Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 than anything else on television, broadcast or cable on September 8, including heavy sports competition from college football on ABC and ESPN, NASCAR on ABC, and the U.S. Open Women’s Final on CBS. “We're very proud to have added to the rich history of sports in London with this watershed mixed martial arts event,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Not only did UFC 75 showcase the bout that unified the 205 lb Pride and UFC titles, it did so in front of a record breaking crowd at the O2 Arena in London, and in front of the largest U.S. audience to ever tune in to an MMA card during its Spike TV telecast.”

I saw a few minutes of the event and could stomach NO MORE:nono

Remember millions tune in to the WWE as well. If Boxing were to put its biggest events of free TV or cable NON-PPV, DLH vs PBF and many other events would eclipse that mark:yep

I dont hate on MMA or its athletes, they should replace the BS WWE. Its a totally different sport than boxing and as long as they continue the BS path of trying to promote a rivalry between them and Boxing, i wont support it.

    **** Joe Rogaine and **** DANA WHITE:good

Another comparison......boxing forums usually have 80-160 members viewing and posting while the top MMA forum might have 3,000-5,000 posting

**** the UFC. How about this for a thought, Give that shitty sport 0 attention and see how they like it - they won't because they've been banking off boxing in this ufc vs boxing debate way to much. **** em let them do what they do and boxing will do what they do. The great moments of boxing history and present will never be surpased because UFC fights are completely anticlimactic since they end right when it starts getting good. You will never have toe to toe wars in UFC and people just don't know the brutality of a 12 round boxing fight at first glance, but a 12 round war puts any sport to shame as far as physical damage goes. People are just to stupid to realize this. The real blood and guts is boxing.

    Well said, C Money.

UFC will never outdo Boxing... The two are very different forms of combat.

I'd rather watch 1 on 1 combat with athletes who are specialized in 1 martial art than watch these clowns basically just get into street fights in a cage and call themselves "mixed martial artists"..They can't perfect any style so when it all comes together the sport just pretty much sucks. I'd rather see 2 guys who are masters of only jujitsu go at it or 2 guys who are masters of any specific style than guys who are just about average at each.

Why is it a competition? As long as good boxing fights are being made and shown on television, UFC can have all the success it can get.

MMA appeals to the common man. When you have something that everyone thinks they can do it will do well in tv ratings and such, just look at all the texas holdm poker that is shown on tv. Guys watch MMA and think I can do that. In fact I know several out of shape slugs that call themselves MMA fighters. My problem with it is, it is a sport that some Joe nobody could climb in a do well. Right now you have several guys that are nothing more then street fighters climbing to the top of the sport.

I agree. While SOME can master a few techniques, learning such a mixture usually means that the MAJORITY of fighters, while pretty damn good in one or two specific areas, suck ABSOLUTE balls at the other techniques...

    Makes 'em look sloppy, imho.

By the way, I wouldn't have really any idea about UFC... But is Royce Gracey still seen as a God?

I can remember his days... And the days of the first UFC, where there were NO rules, and fighters used to fight out of their specific combat sport (e.g. I remember a martial artist specialist fighting a sumo specicialist in I think the very first UFC, each fighting their own technique. Martial artist knocked him out cold within the first few seconds. Awesome).
