Boxing is out of stars....

The lighter weights are as rich in talent as I can remember ever

 

Vitali and Vladimir Klitschkos are stars, cleaning out the division.

 

That is a MYTH.

Boxing's not dying, it's just been supplanted as a premiere mainsteam sport (in the US and elsewhere). Boxing fans are still a healthy niche demographic. We will continue to buy Pay-Per-Views like Marquez-Diaz II, which is absolutely STACKED, by the way, because we're fans of boxing, not star****ers. A non-mainstream sport doesn't need to have celebrity figures with crossover appeal in it.

Everybody needs to give up the ghost on the whole "bringing boxing back into the mainstream" pipe dream. Once you accept its current plateau on the sports landscape, you can see that it's not dying at all - it's alive and well with a different standard of living.

 

If I may, a lamentation. Kostello was always one of my favorite posters. He always kept it "real." He brought a lot of insight to the forum. I used to read his posts a lot when I was just a guest. I figured if Kostello was in here laying down the cold hard truth of the fight game, why should I bother? He's, like, a classic ESB poster from back in '06. Old school kat. It sucks for the sport of boxing that Kostello has chosen to move on to brighter horizons. That's the thing about Kostello though. He's always pushing the envelope, with his finger on the pulsebeat of the nation. We'll miss you Kostello, but we'll keep the fire burning. Keep on, keepin' on.

The flame is alive and well, burning bright. Don't know what the **** you're talkin' bout.
