This time last year, we already had Joshua v Parker, Haye v Bellew 2, Khan and Brook returning on Sky. Whyte banging out big daddy. And a host of good international shows like Wilder v Ortiz.

British Boxing has gone crap again like Pre Joshua days. Joshua is going up against a overweight mexican and none of his future fights look appealing except against Wilder and Fury.

Well known names have retired, we’re being served up crap on Sky Sports. Everything that’s available on Sky Sports is now on at 6am in the morning and anything that has remotely good fight on is now on Sky Box Office.
I’m losing interest. None of the up coming fighters are remotely intresting except for Joshua Buatsi. Their personalities are so dead never mind their fights.

Welcome to the decline of british boxing. Thanks DAZN....
Imagine if DAZN hadn’t come in, it would’ve been best for everyone. Joshua would still be signed to Showtime, so the Wilder fight would’ve been more likely. Eddie Hearn would’ve continued to deliver in the UK and rivalry alongside Frank.

Everything has just fizzled out now

Just because YOUR loosing interest don't mean its dead bro. The fights that both you and everyone else wants will happen. In the mean time just enjoy Joshua getting his debut in America...don't write the fight off just yet, Ruiz is going to surprise alot of people.

It's going through a bad patch but things will pick up again at some point, we have the lineal HW and SMW champs and a good selection of British talent so it's not all bad.
Remember pre and post Wilder-Fury there was a real buzz about the HW division and British boxing in general but a few months later it's all been ruined by greed and cherrypicking, if there can be a dip from a high that quickly then all it takes is some good news and good fights for there to be an upturn again, how long we'll have to wait for this upturn I don't know but it will happen.

I'm not sure British boxing is dead but the matchmaking, particularly from Hearn, has been abysmal recently. Fitzgerald vs Fowler excepted, most of his cards have been full of one sided blowouts or guys up against boxers who are really a weight division lower.

That’s proving his point even more. If that’s what you’re clutching at. I’m not denying like you say they’re decent ish but they would have been more insignificant a couple of years ago.

Does that mean it's dead though?

It’s not proving his point. Look at his post. Khan and Brook returning against nobodies got slated. Joshua Parker got skated. Haye Bellew got slated.

    His post has zero substance.

The important thing you pointed out is that the well known names have retired, that really isn't anyone's fault. How it should work is that the prospects are built up slowly in the background and eventually fight and beat the well known champions at the end of their careers in a sort of handover.

The fights you mentioned were cashouts and mismatches between ageing fighters who have subsequently retired and as a result there's now only a few decent prospects who are not yet able to pull a crowd and headline a card. In America purses have skyrocketed and as a fighter if Dazn are offering so many times more money compared to UK you will take the fight in America.

For the British game to improve in my opinion we will have to put prospects in with prospects sooner than planned I guess.

I'd say a part of it (as you stated) is guys like Froch, Groves, Haye, Bellew, Khan/Brook and Degale have retired or are on the verge of retiring (Khan and Brook) and no one has really filled that void which they have left behind.

My God, I wouldn’t fancy having a few pints with the OP, I’d end up depressed.

I don't dislike Eddie Hearn, he's an interesting fella but have you seen the odds for the DAZN fights tonight. All his fighters are 100/1 plus on. Do you remember when he announced the DAZN deal, 16 shows, 12 super shows and 4 mega shows, I think we're still waiting and of course, the British shows have suffered as a consequence. It really has been lose lose.
